Depends on the company for the fondant. But MMF tastes great. You can combine fondant with MMF and that would make a fondant taste better too if is not a great tasting one

You can try shortening or maybe adding a bit of corn syrup. If it doesn't work you can try mixing it with some pre-made fondant like Wilton to see if that helps

You can knead it with shortening and see if it helps. Glycerine is another option if the shortening doesn't work. If nothing works, then you can add some pre-bought fondant to fix the consistency.

@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 6 жыл бұрын
That would help. Also you can place the cake in a box and wrap the box in plastic so it helps too. Some people place a bit of baking soda inside the box to help. I prefer not to place my cakes in the fridge so I use things that will stay well outside the fridge.

For your fondant molds do you use powder sugar or cornstarch? Which is better?
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 3 жыл бұрын
I use a very small amount of cornstarch. I used to use a 50/50 ratio when I started doing cakes but with the years I got used to dealing with less amount of it so now I use only cornstarch. But if you use a lot and find that it gives you trouble with the fondant, then I would say go 50/50 or use more sugar instead.

Edna De la Cruz may you please help. I made marshmallow fondant and for some reason it’s dry and crumbly I added water it made it sticky I added powder sugar it made it drier I feel like it’s the water and powder sugar like powder sugar dries it out faster
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 3 жыл бұрын
@@ODY0319 Make sure to knead it with some shortening in your hands. If nothing fixes it, you can add some Wilton fondant to it to fix the texture and not lose the mix. Is it your first time doing MMF?
@ODY0319
@ODY0319 3 жыл бұрын
Edna De la Cruz it is! Its a pain lol (can’t you tell) and if I don’t have enough money for Wilton what else should I do? Microwave it?
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 3 жыл бұрын
@@ODY0319 The problem with MMF is the ore you try to fix it, the more it can get worst because it can dry. I will add that if it's your first time making it, then don't give up. Sometimes it has a learning process. Did you try my recipe or did you do the basic one? Another tip..Joann and Michaels have most of the time coupons that you can use and 40% off it's a pretty good deal. If you still don't have enough money for this then try kneading with some shortening. If it's still too dry then it might already spend too much time being aired and that might not be easy to fix. Microwaving it might help temporarily but it won't fix it fully. If you try to make another batch and it's softer, try mixing a small amount of the fresh batch with the old one to see if that helps. Just a small batch, that way if it doesn't help, you don't lose it all.

What if you don’t have glycine
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 5 жыл бұрын
You can try adding a bit of water and mixing but it the fix really depends on the issue you are having. Glycerine is used in making fondant so it's always a good thing to have.

@@EdnaDelacruz hi! My fondant has been rested for 24 hrs. and when I knead it back, it becomes too soft, it's not elastic, and breaks easily. Does adding glycerine fix this kind of problem too?
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 5 жыл бұрын
@@marice8136 It depends. if the condition is too bad then it might not fix it and you might be better off using that for details that don't require elasticity or maybe adding some good quality fondant to it. If it's too soft you can add more sugar to it or a bit of tylose.
@EdnaDelacruz
@EdnaDelacruz 5 жыл бұрын
@@marice8136 It might need more Powder sugar. Sometimes when you knead it, people stop adding sugar because is not sticky anymore. But sometimes it still soft and need the extra sugar. Some people like soft fondant, others like a harder one. Add more sugar and if you are still not happy, take some of fondant and add a bit of tylose to test if you like the consistency of it with tylose. Adding glycerine to soft fondant won't fix the softness.
