Big up to Marske. The stretch of sand between Marske and Saltburn is just the best !!!! Fabulous.

Many a time in winter we had to cross country run from Redcar comp to Saltburn along the top then back along the beach.

Spent a lot of time on that beach as a kid. The big house on the cliff used to be empty (40 yrs ago) and I had a good look around inside as a 10 year . Happy memories. Good vid. Cheers.

Looks so old that "house on the hill" compared to its surroundings, thanks for taking time to watch it.

@@xbox360benji Marske means so much to me. Parents moved to south London when I was 12 years old. Good bye Bydales. Hello London (bit of a shock).

I love the compelling soundtrack!! Anyone who grew up in what is now called Teesside (grrr) was very familiar with Redcar & Saltburn but from recollection we just drove through Marske to get to Saltburn - Sorry folks! Might have stopped to have a picnic on the grassy front on the way, but I don't remember the town itself. It looks good because it appears unspoilt.

Wow, where did all the sand go?? When I was a kid (1965-75) it was sand and nothing else from Redcar to Saltburn! There used to be about a six foot drop at the steps leading onto the beach at the bottom of the steep path on the embankment that I used to jump off for fun with my pals. Sometimes my Dad and I would walk to this small harbour (if you can call it that) on a Sunday morning to catch the fisher men coming back with their catch and buy a fish fresh. There were around 10 maybe 15 boats then all in use. Here's a bit of history for you: Did you know racing cars and motor bikes were raced on the sands between Redcar and Saltburn in the 50’s? It was a big event in its day and they came from all over England to watch it at Redcar, Marske and Saltburn.

I do, lived in the Kirklands, used to watch the sand racing at Redcar as a kid. My dad had a small boat , so fishing from Saltburn through the summer. I loved my time in the North Riding as it used to be called.

I spent a lot of time on the beach and the sand dunes as a kid, probably responsible for my life long hatred of sand and beaches.
