In today's episode, Marss learns that us trash players have really high GSPs. Mostly because we play against other trash players with high GSPs.

The problem with Elite Smash is you can be in the zone and have some nasty play styles, but if you don't consistently play the game and come back to it later, you're gonna fall off hard because of the jank ranking system.

I live in the middle of nowhere, have fiber internet. Have gone to locals, have taken everyone to the last stock in normal offline, and slay them all in Fast smash. Fast smash is all myself and friends ever played growing up. My GSP is 5mil-11.7mil and I rarely hit elite smash. Our internet is controlled and censored, the lag spikes and input latency are awful even over fiber and it is rare that I see a lagless, non-hacked game. There are hundreds of things that need optimized for everyone to have a decent online experience: 1: They need to live close together. 2: The P2P connections need to not be thrown on the backburner by ISPs with their traffic shaping. 3: Every single switch that the connection is made through must not have 32 bit Broadcom outdated garbage NICs (they drop UDP packets and that contributes greatly to lag) 4: Everyone needs a concealed IP to stop DOS attacks. Edit: If we are playing a match together and you don't have a VPN, you can assume I know where you live. That shit is scary. 5: Nintendo and Akamai need to get their NTP servers and encrypted NTP protocol together and optimize it. 6: Nintendo needs to optimize their laggy backgrounds so they don't send thermal spikes to the Tegra CPU/GPU. 7: Nintendo needs more overhead in general on their graphics processing, partly because the network cards cause hiccups as well. 8: Background processes on the Switch need to quit pinging Nintendo servers, lagging out our Switches, or even trying to while their offline. 9: CPU AI needs to not be active when there is no CPU in a match between players. I swear the CPU gimps me offline by intentionally dropping frames or reading the input buffer. 10: Everyone needs an external cooling unit on their Switch. It seemingly mitigates buffer lag, and maybe causes desyncs when one player has cooling and the other doesn't. 11: Everyone needs Fiber internet with VLANs, firewall rules, and possibly a DNS sinkhole and Stratum 1 NTP connection. Edit: There are also TONS of router and firewall options that aren't available on ISP provided routers. I have accidentally tricked the online buffer system into just not working before using firewall rules, and a DNS sinkhole and it was pretty smooth. Maybe the other player also had his own hacks or anti-nintendo DNS rules. Ones that come immediately to mind is mbufclusters, dfbit compatibility, hardware offloading, VLAN priorities, bandwidth storm control, port forwarding, Manual NAT, proxies (Squid Proxy gives my Nintendo Switch 120 Mb/s Downloading and 60 Mb/s upload) and possibly VPN connectivity.

If the loss scale for GSP wasn't so skewed, half these bozos would be in the mid 11 low 12 million, but losing 400k vs gaining 50k means you have 4 bad games and you can ruin your elite status until you win another 10 without a loss. Also... region is a huge factor. I visited north carolina from Florida and got a lot more Midwest garbage in the 11 million and 12 million range that would be 8 million down south.

Yo the gsp system is so ass ur right I’m at 12.6 and Sometimes it’ll take me 5 or 6 games to make back the gsp I lost from one game it’s annoying
@rottentomatoplays2 жыл бұрын
@fullysemiautomatic the other issue is if you've played a LOT of games at low GSP.... (my Marth was the first character I played in this game and I put dozens of hours in at 5 million... I think I'm at 30 or 40 wins in a row and I'm at 10 million on him... meanwhile one game on corrin and I'm at 11.6 🙄 Eventually you hit a weird ratio that you start losing less points overall, but your time invested is so high that the GSP system rewards you exponentially... some of the 12 million players that marss thought were lower probably just have stupid time on one character
