I remember, back when I first got Mario Kart 7, back when the internet wasn’t even a thing to me (because I wasn’t introduced to it yet, somehow, someway), I found the Maku Wuhu Glitch, and used it in Time Trail. I hope to increase my time to be even closer to Sub 1:10, but in order to do so, I’m going to be even more precise with my controls than I am already, acting more and more like a Tool Assistant Speedrun than what I am already. I’ve seen those speedruns, and they look humanly impossible, but I’m sure it took dozens of attempts. I wonder if my skill issues will allow me to at least be Top 500 (and that’s me being optimistic)

Sub 1:10 is a pretty solid goal! Unfortunately, none of our leaderboards accurately track the top 500, so it'll be impossible to know when you reach that point, but I would expect it would be either a 1:04 or a 1:05

Well yeah, the current RTA strategy of bouncing off the balloons that I referenced is called balloon boost. Using the houses to cut off that turn has never been done before in a run though (it was previously impossible without a mushroom, and it was extremely precise), so that part can be considered a traditional shortcut

If you like those aspects of MK7, you should check out mario kart wii. It is 10x more broken than MK7 and has great TASes and near infinite tricks to gain speed in time trial. It also has an active online communite and people like TWD98 and frozen upload a lot of content.

Good LORD, man... you're SUCH a legend! Truly the Summoning Salt of MK7!!! This might honestly be one of the biggest and/or coolest things discovered in ALL of MK7 history, let alone, in recent memory, or just the past few years!!! 😮😮 I LITERALLY SCREAMED after you said "it was... me", especially since i'd just jokingly predicted that you were going to say EXACTLY "me", right before you did... 😅😂 Also, i assume this was done with TAS, right? Regardless of the answer to that question, how difficult is this to do RTA? On it's own, but also in comparison to the normal balloon boost, which is already pretty difficult i think, hence why i haven't even done it once in a TT run or in a race or anything, yet. It at least SEEMS like it'd be significantly more difficult than the normal balloon boost, right? Additionally, how much time does this enhanced "ultimate" balloon boost save over the regular balloon boost per lap in a TT/speedrun, and how low do you think WRs & TASes could theoretically go with this glitch, in the future? Also, to at least somewhat add to the "Summoning Salt" compliment from the beginning of this comment, i also must say that your voice fits great for these videos, too! Your slight accent is Italian, right? Your accent doesn't sound super strong, but reminds me of a German accent, which would geographically make sense, in that case. Regardless though, this video was AMAZING, and i cannot WAIT for your next one! TTYL, man! 😁

Thank you! Yes, this was done with TAS. I think in it's current form, it may be possible to get something like this RTA, but it wouldn't have any chance of being faster. We'd need to find a different setup for it to make it more consistent for RTA. Even with TAS, it feels more like luck than anything else. It actually doesn't save that much. The pinball strat only saves about .2 compared to the l3 in the current TAS, so even though it looks absolutely insane, until something new is found the absolute time save is relatively small (although for Daisy Hills, it's one of the biggest timesaves in a while). If a way to get an instant clip is found it could save significantly more though, a lot of time is lost by bouncing around the balloons to set it up. And there's also coins to consider, since doing this would skip over where you would traditionally grab some coins. The slight accent is British :). But I've never lived in England, so yes, the accent isn't super strong. Thank you once again!

OK first, excellent video!, and second finally I could understand of why happened that weird thing in the Daisy Hills track. You see when I played that track and reached to the town area with the fountain, rarely I noticed that for some seconds I went from 1st to 2nd but then came back to 1st again. I always thought that was somekind of random minor problem with the track's progress for a moment but now it looks like it was the CPU performing the glitch and I never noticed, lol!. 😂 Quite amazing to know this.

It is technically possible that someone has done it before, but nobody has ever posted anything about it online as far as I know, so it's impossible to know for sure. As far as is known, only the CPU's had clipped through those balloons before

With bowser it's probably just the interactions of being shrunken causing weird hitbox detections, but with the rest I couldn't say for certain. My best guess is that it could be somewhat similar to the kalimari desert wall in MK64, where the wall isn't quite big enough for your speed. So occasionally, if you hit it with just the right floating-point coordinates, you'll be on one side on one frame, and inside it on the next, without ever crashing into the wall. Given that humans are more likely to avoid the balloons, it could explain why it's more common for the CPU's. But there could also be something else at play that I haven't considerred

The mii was actually a CPU as well! Part of the streetpass feature in this game allows you to challenge a CPU Version of people you meet in person in a Grand Prix. It's actually a pretty cool feature, the CPU has different playstyles based on the way that person actually plays in-game.
