I'm from Argentina and it really makes me proud. Amazing masterpiece. I've sing this mass with my choir and if you really study the melodies, textures, rhythms regarding the texts and lyrics, it'll make the work a lot more interesting. Some of them for example: Credo, on the first measures the entire orchestra and choir play the same note (G). They are all reafirming and restating the faith as said in the text. Crucifixus, at the beginning (16:37) the instrumental part is imitating the sound of hammering while Christ was being crucified. The part at 15:06 (descendit de caelis = descended from heaven), melody is descending from high parts to low parts, first altos, then tenors, then basses, as the lyric says. Dona Nobis Pacem, the cello melody at 39:50 represents the Holy Spirit descending as the choir tries to give that silent effect of peace at the end because Dona nobis pacem = grant us peace (in this performance, that effect is achieved incredibly well, just look at the director, the musicians, the audience) PS: Old man tenor at 18:26 almost started to sing the basses part, I remember doing literally the same while performing, it's impossible not to sing along, even if it isn't your part.

No indeed, no one cares about originality in art, what is important is beauty and above all EMOTION. Thank you Martin Palmeri for giving us such beautiful feelings with this awesome composition.
@fennelleastman88162 жыл бұрын
@@rosa7479 Yes who cares about originality!!! You don't think Ravel, Debussy and Chopin didnt consider originality important?? What nonsense.Every great composer has to have originality.And great composers deal with FEELING not EMOTION.There is a big difference.
@rosa74792 жыл бұрын
@@fennelleastman8816 I don't think anything, I wasn't a Chopin, Debussy or Ravel's intimate to know exactly what they thought ;) To me, a great composer is an artist who has something deep to share, and manages to touch us doing so. And sometimes, in the way to do it, it occurs to be original. But he's not looking for originality as an aim. And for sure emotion has something to do with feelings, since it's an indescribable mix of feelings. Emotion IS at the top of feelings.
