I think it’s the Tokyo performance-simply mind blowing!!! Glad you posted it.

this is astounding. Martha very rarely plays brahms and this piece suits her well.
@alexbrk115718 күн бұрын
Well, that’s bizarre. I remember her saying Brahms was her favorite composer in an interview.

@@alexbrk1157you must be confusing her with grimaud or someone… she usually if asked speaks of affinities/loves for Schumann, Chopin or Beethoven.

I guess this is one of Brahms' early works. Nice but immature. it was actually composed before his Piano Sonata No. 1 in C major. The performance of Martha Argerich is sublime.

Merci Charles ! Je trouve ça extraordinaire comme d’habitude. Earl Wild était peut être un peu jaloux non ?

I think she played at this one of the last solo recitals she gave at Carnegie Hall, before she gave up playing solo (until her reappearance there in the 2000).
@mcintertz559318 күн бұрын
Does this mean there is another Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet floating around?

Yes it appears to be a different performance, but probably from the same year.

I remember that because Earl Wild attended that concert and gave me a bad report of this performance in particular. He said that she did not understand the piece.

@polyphoniac Can't say I'm surprised. Martha's playing arouses clear likes and dislikes among listeners, especially this performance.

Why is this recording so bad quality? Is this sonata also recorded on a real music recording company?
