I had to laugh when you said Owen is starting to grow on me, and then he gets shot and dies. Like you, I wasn't his biggest fan, but that ending was shocking. It was great seeing Martha, and that's one of the things i liked about having the Dr Who related shows is we can see companions after they leave and getting on with their lives.

I like to think that Adam's mind tricks and changing of Tosh's and Owen's personalities is what allowed tosh to be confident enough to say that to Owen and Owen to be soft enough to accept. I feel like deep in their subconscious they remember how they felt. Owen remembers what it felt like to love tosh and not have it returned and tosh remembered her self worth and her confidence. (Simialry to how Gwen kind of remembered Torchwood after taking the amnesia pill in episode one)

I think the reference to her knowing how to be invisible was not about how the doctor looked right through her but more about how she spent an entire year using the tardis key to travel the world unseen or unnoticed by most

Martha seems to galvanise the team, and it was a surprise to see her? The theme was a bit of a giveaway. I liked her relationship with Jack, and the way she related to the team. It was a massive shock to see Owen killed in such a pointless way by Jim Robinson from Neighbours. It does remind you of the dangers they face with Torchwood.
@Venemofthe8888 күн бұрын
Honestly i really like Martha and to have her come into Torchwood was another nice bit of connection Russel had between his 3 shows. This period of the Whoniverse is probably my favorite cause it shows a universe where fights are going on even when the Doctor is away. Martha is one of my favs and the fact she chose to leave the tardis by her own choice unlike was Rose who was forced out.

Martha has walked the earth for a year. Trying to stay invisible to the Toclaphane but spread the message about the Doctor. She's been through a lot, her parents living with having been enslaved by the Master for a year. Than returning to a world it is now the year that never was (title of a book about Martha walking the earth for a year) people don't remember she can't tell people what she's been through

Whenever there's a character you don't like, and there's an episode that makes you like them after all, that's probably the episode they die in. TV truism.

@gestaltdude8 күн бұрын
I hate to say it, but the fac that Owen was changing should have been the give away that something was going to happen to him. It's the oldest trope; let someone who has struggled start being happy with themselves, maybe having a budding relationship with someone, before something happens to them. A line from the novelization of the Third Doctor story Invasion of the Dinosaurs. "Beware people who know they are right, like Oliver Cromwell. For the good of Humanity, those people sometimes do murder." This is Copley; convinced what they are doing will benefit humanity, as well as vastly enriching himself, he has made himself comfortable with killing to protect the project. Speaking of Aaron, it is always so weird for me seeing Alan Dale in roles like Torchwood and the MCU. To me he'll always be Jim Robinson from the very first episode of Neighbours, an Australian TV soap opera that started in the mid-80's.
