malini reddy chocolate flavored anything tastes like coffee to me. I think some people get a bitter, coffee like taste from chocolate, but some get a more pleasant, sweet taste from chocolate. I always taste coffee if I try chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate syrup.. etc. I hate it! But some people look at me like I’m crazy when I describe the flavor as “coffee”.

I think Snoop’s cake is the same as Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate cake recipe that’s on the back of the cocoa container. Exact same ingredients except it’s with milk instead of buttermilk. From what I can tell it looks like the same measurements too. I make it all the time, it’s really easy to make and it’s very good. Really good with vanilla buttercream too.

I've actually made both of these cakes for different occasions and every single time I make them people just lose it and want the recipes. My kids favorite is snoops (and may I add his chicken and waffles are one of our staples around my home as well. Also, my mom taught me about putting chips on sandwiches and thats how uve eaten them as long as I can remember so when we saw that in snoops cookbook we were delighted and just loved it!!) I absolutely looove his cookbook!! And Martha, well I grew up watching her and using her recipes .. I just love her! Her cake is the one my church always begs me to bring to our banquets. So I find that it's really hard to outright pick a fave out of the two cakes.

Cake made with butter is good if not refrigerated... it gets hard the next day. But cake with oil holds better longer i think. I've always preferred cake made with oil...

I’ve used Martha’s chocolate cake recipe so many times and it really is a great cake recipe. The frosting is good, but very American with all the powdered sugar, so I’ve used other fillings and frostings when I make it. And I really like dusting the pan with cocoa powder as opposed to flour-it makes sense.

The recipes are really similar. I think the major difference in the flavor is the type of cocoa powder used. It’s obviously going to have a richer, deeper flavor if you use a better quality cocoa powder.
