I like when you say "Combat is the core element of this art". As a person who was born in China and started learning martial arts since I was 4, I would add that some of the martial art stuns that are in Black Myth Wukong or in action movies aren't originally real martial art moves. Some of the stuns came from Chinese acrobatics or Chinese Opera; back in those days action actors of Chinese Opera did study martial art since they were young, but with primary focus on spectacular fights instead of combat practicality. A modern day representative figure to this would be Jackie Chan. That's why you would see actors do a lot of somersaults, flips, and spin their staff and swords; they are a waste of energy to do in real combat, but if you see those movements from a theatrical perspective, they are art. I think people should appreciate these performance martial art like gymnastics or dances instead of keep questioning "it is useless to do that in fights"; people need to be educated in aesthetics. At least, seeing it is a sport that would grant you a healthy body. Plus a lot of people who trained in performance martial arts are also trained in classic martial art or MMA, and they learn them a lot faster as well. Performance martial art nowadays as a formal sport in China has taken in a lot of moves from Chinese Opera or other acrobatics performances, that's why a lot of martial art athletes can do stuns as well. That pillar stance heavy attack move it is more commonly known as a stun from monkey operas(as a category of Chinese Opera) instead of a martial art move. But of course, actors mimic monkeys, they aren't real monkeys, they are not going to stay on top of a staff for 10 seconds like the game character do.
One of THEE best games i have ever played ever. Its so so good. You can tell some serious work went into it

In Black Myth Wukong, there’s an element named “See through”: If u can predict the enemies’ combo, u can use a specific combo to counter their attacks, which is damn cool, but too hard to use
@Just_your_average_robloxer6 күн бұрын
Its not hard

I LOVE that you made a video about Black Myth Wukong. I was wishing for this! Also the staff spin is not the typical staff spin, that's a double spin (its like an under-arm spin) if you look closely, he's actually spinning it more when he moves the staff to the front, that's what I've been having trouble with
@Outrageon7 күн бұрын
Great thing about Black Myth Wukong is it really supports various playstyles and builds. There's more than one way to fight its seemingly endless bosses.

3:16 The Staff Spin is actually based on Liu Xiao Ling Tong's staff work. If you don't know who is Liu Xiao Ling Tong, he is the actor for Sun Wukong in the 1986 - 2001 Chinese TV series of Journey to the West.
@JS-ih7lu6 күн бұрын
Liu Xiao Ling Tong comes from a family of Chinese opera performers that specializes in “monkey fighting”. “Liu Xiao Ling Tong” is actually his stage name, his real name is Zhang Jinlai.

This guy's staff spin is also way off.
@daisa1506Күн бұрын
@@thenonexistinghero It's a real bo staff + lacking space to spin the staff. What most Monkey King actors use is a "performer's bo staff" or something like that. It's light and flexible unlike a real bo staff.
@thenonexistingheroКүн бұрын
@@daisa1506 I don't see how that excuses the pose being very different. Besides that there are videos of others actually pulling it off properly. He could've used a light staff as well. That's why you play around with multiple things if something's not working out.

Fun fact: ALL movements from various minions up to ALL TYPES of Bosses are done by SINGLE stunt man graduate from both martial art and acrobatics college. You haven't played?.... imagine your 1st encounter with The Big Head Wisp.

"Ebon Flow" = "Ebb and Flow" As I finish the Game this Weekend, I'm continually impressed by the amount of Word Play & Rhymes in ENGLISH that were done for us Westerners that cannot be 1:1 w/ Mandarin or Cantonese, requiring them to have done these aspects at least TWICE, once per Language.
