He is doing 1 style of Kali , there are thousands . This is mostly filipino kali . Kali encompasses the whole art . Weapons , empty hand , kicking , grappling w/ or w/ out sticks , etc . And him saying you have to do it only this way is 1 of the reasons karate got watered down . There are several ways to do the hubud/ lubud , him telling you you have to block this way is wrong . You can block palm up and it is just as effective . You have to remember, when things are happening fast , it is all in the training . Also , the Chinese arts were incorporated into the FMA , know as Kuntow in the Philippines . The palm up is called a tan soa in Chinese arts and if you lock your hand into spear fashion , your arm will not give . Also the way he was showing , palm down ,you could more easily slip under his arm and cut his stomach .

@theFlowingDutchman if you really want to understand indian fighters and Kali then get in touch with Indian actor and kalaripayat fighter VIDYUT JAMWAL. He is training martial arts since 3 years old after his father's demise who was in Indian army. He is one of the finest martial artist in world and please make a podcast or some video stuff with him. That would be adventurous too just like all your videos.

The martial arts is in everything you do everyday. I do believe that Kalaripayaat is one of the oldest existing systems, but tell me how do you know that Kali borrows from it? What principles were borrowed? Every system has an underlying set of principles. Once you study any system then you quickly understand the differences and similarities, but can you explain what has kali borrowed from Kalari?

kali comes from every side of martial arts of India, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam when these nations trade to the Philippines. everything fuses in one combat martial art that is why KALI has more similarity on every martial art in SEA Nations, China, Japan, and India. We know at that time both countries have prides they trade not only goods and wealth but also the pride of their men if you win you will gain respect from other empires or tribes.

It’s a word to describe these abductors that live under the sea and these stories that have been turned into folklore (even tho there is actual physical proof of the activities of diwata) been around way before srivajaya and majapahit empires came around.

Kali from Kalis or sword. It not sticks, it just represent the sword or dagger . I dont agree with the training in rotonda shown by the instructor where you put both swords as represented by a stick pointing at the back one should be facing the opponent the aim is to attack whilst defending. Please watch Doug mecaida rebuking the technique idk why some teaches that. Different schools different take, in my school you need to point the lower sword to the enemy while charging or priming the overhead attack so that if the enemy tries to stop the over head attack you can stab using the lower blade to the stomach up. If you do what was demonstrated there the enemy kan slice you simultanously if he also have the same 2 bladed so you cant attack nor defende since both of you hand and weapos are pointing at the back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqTVin6IftNlmpo please do check it here where he explains that you should never do that form where the underhand is tuck kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXiyd5mtZc-Afrc here sticks represents the sword. The sword use here is called ginunting there are many swords talibong is one itak, dahong palay, baraw, kris, also have kampilan.
