EA UFC absolutely does not feel like a sim. They did not even TRY to make it a sim. It is an arcade fighter disguised as a sim. It really is this simple- make sim mechanics optional. Needing to land 10+ knockdowns and flush head kicks not even stunning your opponent is insane. Also, not all of us are online players. The single player experience has been totally neglected. EA doesn’t care, they remove features and put them back. It might as well be a yearly release. It’s lazy and inexcusable. Tekken with 4oz gloves.

The problem with not just martial arts games … but ALL sports games wanting to be sim has really hurt the genre. Sports games have become overly animated and just feel slow and sluggish… the exact opposite of what sports are and should be: fast, exciting, responsive, etc.

When you said that Undisputed sold 1 Mill copies in the first week hurt my soul since i know a GOOD bit of people bought the game BEFORE it came out, but **knew** it was complete shit and pretty much COMPLETELY unfinished, unpolished, and EXTREMELY UNDETAILED without a single doubt in my mind that the Career Mode specifically, which is the ONLY THING I PLAY IN THESE GAMES by the way, is **EXTREMELY UNDETAILED** and a COMPLETE rework needs to be done, along with just **PURE** set of hyper focused devs at this point to just work on CUSTOMIZATION for the fucking character... I say this cause its just really annoying that in some weight classes you can't be "tall", but it MOSTLY pisses me off is of course the Reach, or the Wingspan, it should NOT just be adjustable by just **AN INCH**, it should at LEAST be 10 inches or even 11 inches at MAX for any one person to choose what they would want...

man, I don’t get what happened with Undisputed. It had everything to be a great game, and they ruined it. Not only would it help newplayers want to buy the game with not just the same old click through menues- spar - fight over and over. Frankly, you will NEVER be able to make a MMA game 100% realistic. It’s way too complicated, as you’ve stated yourself, to make a simulation. I've realized how much I miss having Wacky sports games, Xtreme sports games, Pure over the top insanity type video games! Can we PLEASE bring this stuff back! I miss how unique gaming was thru 90's-00's. Those games are amazing & beautiful even tho it was before ray tracing & 4k resolution was a thing. Did they forget how successful baked in lighting effects were? Have they forgot about physics effects, rag doll effects, using creative art styles, creating satisfying movement, finding intriguing gameplay mechanics, responsive damage effects and interactive environments. Having a game with a variety of different gameplay modes. Current games are way too focused on the wrong stuff and they forget they're making a game that is supposed to be fun & appealing. Did the industry just forget what fun & visually appealing is? I hope we will someday see some kind of Tech advancement that specializes in improving the way a Graphics Card will render out each frame & improving the ways the CPU gets utilized. Currently we are seeing a ton of improvements in our hardware BUT it seems like we are failing when it comes to software & our abilities to utilize our hardware to its fullest potential.. Such as inefficiencies in the realm of rendering prioritization, processing efficiency, finding and fixing code in order to optimize video games, or physics effects & simulation models. I hope will see a massive improvement in the ways video games can be made. I swear that since game development is so unintuitive that it restricts who gets to actually work on games. All of this really limits the amount of developers who were already naturally creative and gifted artists..

Love this videos, man! It brings me to this thought and I would love to discuss it with you: honestly I don't think realism and pure simulation are the solution for EA Sports UFC games. So many times we the players ask for realistic games but I think we're choosing our words wrong. Do the ppl really want to play a game when a single mistake maybe at 5 seconds of the fight would put you completely out? And then you have to go back to the lobby and wait searching for another match? Because that's MMA in real life. I think EA Sports is not that far to be as good as we want. The game mechanics are good, the stamina, the vulnerability system, the damage, the feints, the combos. I think what the next game REALLY needs is a new face. A fresh air. Something that really separates UFC 6 from UFC 5, 4, 3, etc. And, to me, that's new authentic animations for each fighter. Imagine this game, this same UFC 5, but every fighter feels like they are actually themselves. The game would feel A LOT more fresh, authentic and new. Everyone would love to use their favorite fighter because it would feel like you're really using him. I think that's what they need to achieve, that's gotta be the goal. Personally I'm ok with almost everything else, even when I'm not a good player at all hahaha. I would love to know what do you think, brother. Hope you're doing good.

I play fighting games and the answer is pretty simple: UFC / Boxing games have zero replay value. All cages / rings look the same. All fighters fight the same. It's just too limited to be fun. Now if we had them fighting in random places like outside the bus where McGregor and Khabib fought while having McGregor dressed in a suit then we might have something. Realism defeats the purpose of playing a game. And i like both games and MMA.
@ChucksSEADnDEAD8 күн бұрын
Realism does not defeat the purpose of a game. DCS World for example, the realism is the purpose. You can do unrealistic scenarios in the editor, but the point of the game is the fantasy of flying a real aircraft rather than Ace Combat UFO physics.
@jinpachichulo75617 күн бұрын
@ChucksSEADnDEAD nah. Realism defeats the purpose of the game. Otherwise all or most games would try to be realistic. It's about having fun not fantasy orgies.

UFC 2 striking was the best with fluidity and animations and UFC 3 did an awesome job with adding weight to shots. The Parries MUST come back. If you don’t like parries it prob means ur timing is dog shit. It can be exploited by using feints. Maybe adding that risk factor system implemented in UFC 3 after whiffs. Every other UFC is complete ass. And KO animations need improvement.

One would think that PFL, Bellator or ONE FC commissioning a studio to make a video game for them would be low hanging fruit, but apparently the executives are brain dead and bereft of ideas. Instead they rather UFC enjoy its monopoly.

Honestly, I really liked UFC 5 because it feels more realistic than UFC 4, which I was tired of since there were things that broke the immersion for me and the shitty grappling system. I feel they did a good job with UFC 5 (grappling is still meh but is better at least can survive the majority of times). However, I understand why people might look back and see Undisputed 3 as more realistic-it happens to me too, and I don’t fully understand why, since I’ve never played it. I just know it looks more like what I see on PPVs. The fact that people are leaning toward older games makes me think that maybe EA should implement some of those elements in the next UFC game. What worries me is the possibility of them making it more arcade-like. Personally, I really prefer the realism, and I think there are moments in UFC 5 where I can feel immersed. Maybe I’m just not that demanding and fully enjoy a game about something I love and practice. I hope UFC 6 includes more details like Undisputed had, along with a universe mode or something that keeps us playing longer, not just the online mode. EA has so much potential in their hands, and I don’t understand why they don’t make the most of it. They could even add better entrance animations or presentations-something I’m sure wouldn’t cost them much, and other games do it well. I really hope a new company comes along to compete with EA so they put more effort into their games.

Couple of things: 1. It competes for some reason with actual fighting games, and if you play fighting games? These games feel clunky and unresponsive as hell. 2. There are stylistic combat games. It's one of the most popular genres of game, fighting games. Also maybe Absolver, the Sifu before Sifu. 3. The monopolization of the genre did hurt, and just like the FIFA Franchise, that might kill the game. 4. I know this is unrelated, but try to look into buying a mic pop filter. It was obvious man. 5. Most importantly, hold the devs accountable. Don't buy the game if they're sub par. And I would like to circle this back to fighting games, the devs would have no other course of action but to ADAPT.

The game doesn’t have to be ultra realistic but it has to at least encapsulate actual martial arts. Right now the game just feels like an ordinary fighting game and not an MMA game.

If ufc 5 was realistic it would be a lot harder to defend takedowns but I do agree, ea doesn’t need to push boundaries cuz of the lack of competition, ur right bang on the money for that

I feel like part of the problem with this genre of game is the licensing fees devs or publishers have to fork over for the IP's linked to the game, leaving little left over for innovation and gameplay. They act like it's a "simulation" when these games don't look real at all. Each character essentially has the same if not same-ish moveset, and it doesn't look "real" or fun at all. Fight Night was the greatest and last legit videogame detailing combat sports. I'm pretty sure much of what Undisputed's budget was spent on was securing the likeness of people like Tyson Fury - to advertise and sell their game - at the expense of everything else. These UFC/Undisputed games totally suck. Why would you play any of this when you could play Street Fighter, Tekken, or Mortal Kombat? There's really no reason when you think about it. I know, because I've tried... These UFC games suck.

The problem is that games like EA Sports MMA and FNC exist. Those games are really good and EA just needs to build on that the whatever they are currently doing. Also Undisputed needs some love for the effort tbqh.

It’s why tekken is so fun to me 🤷🏽♂️ might have a steep learning curve but the movement and fighting styles are realistic enough and arcadish enough to do it for me 💯 hope these companies see we’re tired of over realistic sims cause they become more and more about what animation you get (especially 2k & madden) not to mention rng.. we need a street style combat game (not street fighter lmao)

Why actually make a good game that people will play for as long as they can when I could just release a half baked piece of shit thats just good enough to keep them coming back for the next one every year? Why cure cancer if I can make triple the money treating it over the course of years? Why build our cars to last as long as possible when we can guarantee that customers will need a new car in just 4 years? Why build an iPhone to last 5+ years when I could make one last 2 years and guarantee that people will buy my brand new yearly iPhone release? Why make the two best boxers in the world fight twice for tens of millions of dollars a fight when I can make both of those fighters fight lesser competition multiple times a year for many years and make hundreds of millions of dollars from both every year? Do you guys see the trend here? These companies made their money, thats all they wanted. Fan base be damned.

What happened to the games that had “Arcade Mode”. These game developers are snorting the hot new thing. Narrative developers think we want 100 hour open world games. Sport developers think we want the most realistic simulation of the sport we like. JUST. MAKE. GOOD. GAMES. They make these games so sophisticated to justify the price of $70. when in reality, a game that WORKS and is fun to play is well worth $70. Also, the easy button for developers is shipping a broken game and telling us to wait for patches to make it slightly more enjoyable but still broken is NOT IT for building good rep-ore with the consumer.
@jmiyagi123459 күн бұрын
100% - there’s a place for those 100 hour open world games but if every game is that, I only need one game. As for football games, I enjoyed CFB more than Madden. The 80% completion rate for the AI out of the box was absurd, especially when CFB didn’t have it. And yeah, my biggest gripe is “we’ll just patch it.” Yeah, if it’s game breaking, do it. But don’t keep patching stuff - release it less often and ship a complete game.
