They could've treated this as a filler episode, a break before getting to Bill vs. Discord, but no, they decided to go hard and they did not disappoint. Probably my favorite Marvel vs. DC fight in the entire series now.

The characterization was at its best this episode and I liked the film noir style they had at the beginning and end but it felt really short. I’d say 8 1/2 out of ten. Sadly the next episode is definitely gonna overshadow this one and I’m still really excited for bill vs discord.

My thoughts exactly, though this episode is kind of the perfect example of why number scores aren't a good way to gauge the quality of an episode, unlike almost every other Death Battle episode, the main focus isn't on the fighting itself but rather on the characters so it's more like a character study rather than a fight. This means that comparing this episode to most other episodes of the show is very hard since it's clearly going for a drastically different feel. Overall, I think this episode is great but definitely not for everyone.

@@alexpineda5960 Yeah I agree. The action while not much was still great but the star of the show is the characters. They make people really question the whole death battle formula because unlike most vs shows db has to end is a death aside from 3 exceptions. Grading it as a death battle is only fair comparing to others but grading it on character work it’s on the next level.

Really wasn't expecting that to be the next battle. Much like something like Black Adam vs Apocalypse, this was as interesting as it could've been for another Marvel vs DC fight, and the characterization and emotions is what made it worth it. Like Ant-Man vs Atom, I really appreciate the hybrid of hand drawn and the sprite animation for the death, it adds a little more to it.

I suppose you could call this a breather episode slotted between the bloody carnage of Guts VS Dimitri and the chaotic madness of Bill Cipher VS Discord, but I like it because of that. Also damn, that ending reaches Magneto VS Tetsuo levels of hitting me right in the feels (which also featured an absurdly powerful yet introspective Marvel character. Funny coincidence.)

Fun fact, you can see space Hawaii and the randy-koolaid constellation in the scene right after the top down part. The cool part of that being you can see a light comet looking thing in stitch vs rocket. Alluding to mm vs ss and stitch vs rocket happening at the same time.
