@Tone Loc I partially agree with you. Look, It was utterly wrong for Bashir to forge documents in order to get access. But the content of the interview stands in it own. ___ I don't see what the fuss is about. Bashir is unethical freak. But Diana was 34y old woman when she gave that interview. She wasn't a child. She figured her life was wasted after she got married when she was 19y to a 30y old man and had to live a rigid lifestyle when her peera were hitting the beaches of France and Spain. She wasn't prepared. I think her words in that interview speaks for it self. She revealed she cheated on Charles. I don't know how a forged bank statement could lead her to reveal that.

He had her thinking that he had contacts inside MI5, he was very plausible, he arranged meetings in underground car parks - they're scary at the best of times - but when you think your life is in danger it was very potent. She was put in a state of fear and trepidation and that encouraged her to speak out. When she gave the interview, it wasn't a case of self-indulgence, as many people thought, but it was a question of self-preservation, she thought she was a target, she thought from what Bashir said she was under the gun, in the sights of the establishment. It's also scandalous that Martin Bashir was employed just a few years ago, ironically as head of religion. I feel so sorry for Diana ❤

Where is the interview where Camilla apologizes for continuing the affair throughout her marriage? Oh that's right, she never did that! That is why they got divorced. That was a much larger portion of how everything went wrong. Blame Bashir is just a new way the Royal family can distract from the fact that their future Queen was/is pretty evil.

I saw both famous Bashir interviews. Watching the Diana one, I didn't observe much noticeable manipulation from Bashir, whatever was going on behind the scenes. However the Michael Jackson interview was the most manipulative long interview I have ever seen. He was obviously setting Jackson up from start to finish. How he was talking to Jackson himself - easy, not too pushy - was in strong contrast to how he seemed to condemn him in his commentary. After that, I never trusted Bashir to be an objective journalist again. Though I agree with John Ware about right wing politicians and newspapers looking to use things like this as a tool to undermine the BBC and the whole idea of public service broadcasting in the UK.

While tempting to blame an individual and "hold them accountable", this is an issue born of systemic problems, even societal problems. Look at the problems Prince Harry has had with his royal experiences. He withdrew from royalty and moved out of the country to get away from it. Clearly, society at large has a problem with how it handles the royal family.

Quite honestly he deserves to reap what he sowed. The reason MJ did the interview with him and trusted him is because he felt that if princess Diana trusted martin then he could too. Martin Bashir took down two of the greatest people that walk this earth. Princess Diana and Michael Jackson. He lied about Michael in his video and didn't realize MJ people was also recording the whole thing. I am shocked to see how Bashir cut things out to suit his naritive. In one part of the video MJ people recorded you can actually hear Bachir say what an amazing person Michael is and how much he cares for children. But in Bashirs video you see how he changes every thing and makes MJ look like a monster. He deserves to pay for what he did to MJ and princes Diana. He needs to be held accountable for his actions. And I'm sorry Mr Bachir....Sorry doesnt cut it!!!

Everyone already knew about Camilla and Charles it wouldn't have made a lock of difference she wanted to destroy Charles she would have just given the interview to someone else .

Nah Diana spoke her truth. Without her speaking up about the affair, Charles would have eventually introduced Camilla to the world as his friend and then wife without us knowing she had a major role in the demise of that marriage.

Fomenting strife within her family, cultivating her paranoia and tactically isolating her from friends, family and staff. Disgusting.

bashir may be the conduit for Diana story but she told it instead of being manipulated by the provoking Bashir antics. Diana wanted to do this cause it was out of her control. Diana wanted the news people to help her in a way the royals couldn't pluse get in the way. Bashir did his job too good i'd say that Diana said her part but Bashir embellished and took it further then what story actually stated. it made it so bad cause Bashir huge EGO was in the way of the narration. The people's princess wanted her own story to be heard and told by her instead of having the royals poking their heads in to make theirs. Diana was miserable and unhappy because of Charles did not hold up his side of the marriage.

We ask governments in all countries to unite the bridge pillars as high as one or two meters so that if a car hits a bridge support, it can still slide not as badly as a car crashes into a bridge pillar so that an accident hitting a pillar like what happened to Princess Diana does not happen again, sorry and thank you

What Bashir did was not cool not giving Diana heads up and consent for the interview but he is not and I mean not the reason for suffering of Diana its Charles's simpness to Camilla his other affair with lady tyrion aka kanga and his jealousy of her popularity and his berating and belittling of her that cause the breakdown of the marriage besides its been 3 years since their separation when this interview was conducted

Bashir intentionally deceived, fabricated and lied in order to gain a interview. That is a story in itself.
