I love Martin Clunes.. he just seems like the most wonderful person on the planet.. I try to watch everything I can.. that he is in.. I am from the USA... so its a little hard.. also I truly loved William and Mary... a where are they at, now would be so fun.. I mean the whole W/M family...

I didn't know these guys were married. My mother who is now on hospice is in love with Doc Martin show. I ended up buying her the entire 8 seasons and she watches them every day nearly, all day. I kid you not. I ended up being enamored with his character even so far as relating to him. I don't really care for the way they seem to scorn Christianity (maybe my imagination) as well as the notion that they must HATE these characters themselves to make them so obnoxiously despicable at times. I get that's a large part of the plot but it can be so heavy handed and without sensitivity at times. I think I've imagined at least 2/3 of the characters to fall into the sea much as Martin directed the bird watchers to do one episode! And if it weren't for the fact she wanted to be a two timing hussy I would feel so sorry for poor Ms. Tishell. I actually am tickled by her infatuation and she's not a ding-dong so much as eccentric. Even the 'normal' people like Joan and Louisa can be so galling. Joan lying on Martin only to chastise him for being poor family after he calls her out on it. And Louisa. Oh Louisa. When you aren't absolutely awful you're quite fine. I was so glad they showed the sensitivity in one of the counseling episodes that SHE's the miserable sack making everyone miserable. He's the same guy she refused, dumped and finally married but he's constantly berated and belittled for being HIMSELF and not who she really wants him to be! I really can't stand her character since marriage and they have been in counseling practically every episode since which has reduced the shows charm considerably for me and my mother. She generally doesn't want to watch the post marriage seasons if offered to start from beginning again. Do you know if these guys were married before or after the show?

They were married in 1997. Doc Martin starting filming in 2004. They met on the set of a movie called 'Staggered' - MC was the star and PB was the producer in 1993, movie release 1994.

These women in the comments remind me of the Mrs. Tischel character on Doc Martin. They're all swooning over him and not being too realistic. I hope they are all aren't self medicating either. Thank god they don't film in America you would never get any work done you'd have women just screaming.

@sally525 Yes, the man is definitively sexy! Wonder if he knows it? Clunes obviously lost a lot of weight before he filmed the last season of Doc Martin. A sexy dude, that's for sure!

Dom strong....He is very generous and loving to all. He helped the wee boy, an actor on doc Martin, when he needed money for medical treatment. He's wonderful.
