Add a Tonewood Amp and you're set ... Nice playing!

A wonderful and very positive video! I bought this guitar used about a year ago and I assure you it's super! A guitar is worth every cent spent on it. My main guitar is the Taylor 714 and I want to tell you that the cheaper Martin is not worse than it in sound and playability, and even better in volume and soft overtones. The guitar has an absolutely adult configuration, just uses less popular and expensive wood (but this does not mean that it is worse). The built-in tuner is just a bomb! I was truly surprised by the quality of the production at the factory in Mexico.

Is it just me ore does the D12 sound very bright, resonant, clear... More than the D10 & D13?...
@mathewg17473 жыл бұрын
I was going to get the D10E because the 13 did not sound like a usable tone without amp/EQ, but discovering the D12E I'm saving for this instead. I like the tone between all three as well.

@@mathewg1747 I prefer the D12e in every way... to me it's the very best of the road series. And I even prefer it to somme higher and models 😶🙊

Thanks for very good review! Not touring at the moment, certainly not in Singapore, but very good review nonetheless! Haha that's a joke, just an amateur guitar player! Never toured anywhere! But still appreciate reviews!

Is it worth the price? Could it be a lifetime guitar?

Hey Jarvis! I’m a relatively new subscriber and a new (9 month) guitar player. Thank you so much for your extremely informative videos! Much more honest than many! And thank you also for your positive, spiritual outlook on everything! Question: what strings do you have on this 12e? Martin‘s website shows that Medium strings are standard on all their dreadnoughts and I think I will have difficulty handling them. On a video you did for the Taylor 517e you said you replaced the stock Mediums with Lights. Did you also do that on this Martin? Thanks!!

Really enjoy your reviews. Find them very informative. Would like to see a review of the D12E Koa. Would like to know if the koa veneer actually imparts some tonal quality or if it's more decorative. Thanks.
@dmar36514 жыл бұрын
the D12E Koa uses a laminate Back n Sides Koa veneer. The primary core of the BnS is Sapele, hence there is no real effect on the tone of the guitar.
@TheGuitarSpaSingapore4 жыл бұрын
if its a Veneer or koa laminate ..then it only ornamental decorative...and no tonal advantage..

I have the 000 12E Koa guitar and it is amazing! I have an OM 21 and old 00 18 G and I play the 000 12E more than all the rest combined.

I'm loving that you are reviewing the Martin Road Series. Honestly, I love their Road Series. I personally own a Martin DRS-1. It has since been replaced with the D-10E, but they are not too different. Personally, I prefer the safety of a Hard Shell Case, over a gigbag + aesthetics upgrades and a tuner. In the end though, Martin really did listen to their customer feedback and went to Fishman with that feedback, and they actually Did improve the pickup system. I was shocked at how much better the MX-T system is over the Sonitone system, despite being very similar in build.

yes they have made several improvements...the move from hardcase to gig bag is reason ...1. cost ...2. is that many gigging musicians don't want to carry their heavy hardcase out... the new pickup is a step up ....and the price point of the D10e is ...value for money ...plus if you aged it correctly ...its gonna be a winner...i'm grateful for Martin guitars that have up the game..

This softshell is interesting, I was a little disappointed it wasn’t hardshell but when I actually handled it I love it, it’s super light and very well padded. It’s honestly one of my favorite cases. The only thing I would feel like I would want a hardshell for on this guitar is for air travel, but you usually want a better case than stock for that anyway, so this works for me!
