Martin Luther King Sr. Daddy King The Inescapable Christ

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nobel Peace Prize winner, and civil rights leader shook the world with his oratorical gift and his famous speech "I Have A Dream" but he was also known for his boldness as he marched in the civil rights movement.
Today you will hear the man where he got his boldness and strength from; his Father Dr. Martin Luther King Sr. known as Daddy King. Though very few people today have heard him preach, this is a live sermon that had never been published of him preaching like a down home preacher at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Summerhill in 1976, where Rev. Timothy Flemming Sr. was a newly called pastor during his 1st anniversary on a Sunday morning. Dr. Martin Luther King Sr. was the long time pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA until he retired. He came over that Sunday to preach for the young Pastor Flemming and gave him the charge as a newly called pastor and preached a powerful sermon entitled " The Inescapable Christ". Daddy king had suffered many tragedies at that time.
He lost his son Martin Luther King Jr. to an assassin then lost his other son to a drowning accident, he lost his daughter who died from heart complicating issues while jogging, and lost his wife to an assassin who intended to kill him on a sunday morning but killed her and a deacon. He never became bitter and stood strong trusting in God. This sermon is a masterpiece of Daddy King himself though he was in his 80's, he was powerful then.

As a child I recall "Daddy King" staying at our house each year. He was guest preacher celebrating our Concord Baptist Church anniversary. Both he & my dad, Gardner C. Taylor were enjoyable to watch! I attended a service that Daddy King preached in Champaign, IL in 1975. He was amazing, kind and loving. Lunch was served after service, and he mixed with the congregation.
