Having owned an HD28 for many years, I'd say the OM 28, and the OM 28 modern deluxe are the best sounding acoustic guitars you can buy.

I currently own a Martin Dreadknot I can hardly play because it is so big ..and then I have a Martin 00018.. but the nut with is a little too wide for me for strumming Ect and playing daily….. Trying to decide between a Taylor 812 CE or the Martin om21 or Martin om28… Really loving the om28…. Now I have to return the Taylor for the Martin om28 ASAP.. and save a little money too! Does anyone have any thoughts on what I should do? Asap!!:) … actually I just bought the Taylor home yesterday but having buyers remorse wanting to now get a Martin… I Just miss the Martin sound!! It fits my style!!

Both great brands… I recently picked up a Taylor 317e and I’m simply in love with the tone, shape, and playability. I’ve played a dozen Martins in the last week at local shops and nothing has felt as comfortable compared to the Taylor. They both do their own things really well. I’m looking at buying an OM-28 next to cover my bases though in the acoustic space. I tend to play more fingerpicking stuff on acoustic so the OM will work really well. The Taylor does it well too, but that’ll likely be more for chording and stuff. PS - Taylor’s western floral hardshell case might be the most beautiful case on the market. I love staring at it in the corner of my bedroom lol.

The OM-28 is an awesome guitar. I would suggest also trying out the Martin M36 (00036) as well. That one sounds and plays awesome too. Very versatile but very overlooked guitar. Those two models are the best Martin models I have gotten to play.

I respect Taylor and Martin both but I have found Martin to have the best sound. Another great sounding guitar brand is also Breedlove. That OM-28 sounds awesome!!! I prefer the OM, OOO, and OOOO (auditorium) style guitars over dreadnought. Much more comfortable to play.

I bought this very model today, my first Martin. It is an incredible instrument. In the shop the guy gave me the equivalent Taylor model to try for comparison, I forget the model number. To my ears the Taylor sounded tinny and trebly; it wasn't even on the same planet. To say the Martin blew it away doesn't tell the half of it. No offence intended to Taylor lovers and YMMV!

I played a OM28 YESTERDAY AND I can say my 712 Taylor 12 fret is better, hands down! Its not even close…

Not me. I sold my 712 LTD 12 fret after finding an OM28. Om28 sounded like a guitar, the 712 sounded like a tin can with strings

I think it's a question of which sound you prefer. For me there was not a single Taylor i ever liked. Be it the low price models or the higher priced models. I wanted to like the 12 fret models because i LOVE their appearance with the slot heads... The 712 is gorgeous! Sadly my ears don't like them as much as my eyes.

Martin OM-28 is far better. Martin Dovetail neck inside the body. Taylor guitar's uses bolts and nuts to connect the neck to the body. Taylor guitar's are poorly designed and construction is very low end and they charge a lot for garbage design guitar's.
