Back several years ago (48 years to be exact) there were 5 of us in a group that used to hunt together each year, like you we had our own little cabin that had been built by all of us. Each weekend from the middle of September to the last of January, we would all gather and stay to Late Sunday evening until it was time to leave as we all had jobs. One by one, they were called "Home" by the Big Guy in the sky, some died from natural causes some by accidents, myself being the eldest of the group, am now the only one left to tell of the fun and enjoyable times we had spent together, I surely do miss each and every one more and more each day, I know for a fact that getting old and being the last of the " Mohicans" is a lonely road to travel at times especially when the memories comes calling on a person. The cabin has long since been torn down about 7 years ago as one of the group inherited it from his parents and had joined them in eternal sleep, the farm was sold and then subdivided, so even that is just a memory. I seldom see any of their family and it's my guess that most of the guys wives are now gone too. The last one of the group passed away 4 years ago 6 months after his wife died.

Thanks for the story of your group. A similar hunting group had the cabin before me and I was able to purchase it when the last man standing knew his times up there were over.
@Nortekj

The cabin we had wasn't a log type cabin it was built like modern houses are constructed, (stick built), it had one large bunk room and a large living room with a kitchenette off to one side, it had 2 wood burning stoves, one for main heat the other was a wood burning kitchen stove, it was so heavy that it took all 5 of us to get in in the building. At the time neither of us thought to take pictures of the cabin during the stages of construction or afterwards which was a mistake we all had made as none is in existence that I am aware of. We were all to anxious to get it finished and then the thoughts of harvesting the various animal "trophies" of the season once it was completed a the companionship we all shared when together. but in my mind I can still see it perfectly in all it's glory. As I had stated, I was the eldest of the group and oddly enough, the youngest of the group was the first one to die. He was killed when riding a motorcycle and run off the road by a drunk driver and died instantly when he slid into concrete barrier wall, he was 31 at the time, 2 died from cancer and the last one to pass away died from a heart attack. The memories surely brings back lots of laughter we all had when playing pranks on each other and also a few tears to the eyes when reality brings you back to the present time.

My friend I hardly ever respond again as quickly as I have to you but this was an awesome,outstanding video ... the grim reminder that too someday soon your cup will hang there on that wall of remembrance, along with the ending of you rocking and looking forward into that great unknown ...gave me a sense of someday soon I too will step off this great stage of action and become accountable to what I will leave behind ...though I'm but 54 that day is marching onward now with much more rapid speed ...may you have many more days to enjoy your cabin and the serenity and awareness of "we are all passing away" enough of the morbid...this was and will be , one of your Best ... onward,onward is the watchword...

old trick to keep mice away==get you some clove oil, pour it in a spray bottle ad a few drops of dish liquid and water and spritz around baseboards and areas even the door and window seals. I learned this from the Amish and I never have mice now. God bless and love your videos.
