I decided months ago HE WAS targeted by the media because he didn't have the right legal and PR team to shut him up at the right time. I find him very likable and enjoy watching his content whenever possible. When he breaks down companies for investment it's very insightful. People can decide for themselves, but I'd bet his Dr. Gupta will be a success and even if it isn't he'll create a breakthrough that helps mend his image. He's a builder and what makes America great is builders like Martin!

These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $89k now to put in the market.

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. @@freedomisEexpensive-08 Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 930k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. Shkreli seem like a snake attempting to fool general messes. Sure, he can rationalize the comparative utility cost of epipen vs costing insurance millions of dollars for not having epipen. However, the main problem is the monopolization of the epipen market allowing his pharmacy the luxury of such comparison. Without lobbying, corruption, and monopolization, such utility comparison would not exist. We would instead have multiple companies sourcing epipen from global market competing against each other driving down cost. This is the classic example of two corrupt entities pointing finger at each other rather than reflecting the corruption itself.

My goodness, have some respect for your guests. The hubris to tell someone who is so obviously on another level intellectually that they “f’d up” or that they’re the “class clown of society”…really? You both seemed so anxious to get your biases toward Shkreli out in the open and in such a rude way. Here is the difference between him and you guys: He has the capacity to be successful in multiple industries and has a proven track record in doing exactly that. You guys are cringey poser ‘serial entrepreneurs’ who ride the increasingly insufferable hUsTLe gRinDseT hype train while failing to produce much value outside of borderline clickbait nonsense. There is a lot of runway between posing a question like “Some may argue that you shot yourself in the foot by maintaining this outwardly bold but flippant attitude towards anyone that disagreed with you, what would you say to that?” vs. what you did through conclusively stating they did something wrong, “f’d up”, and from your high horse acting as though you have the solution to these challenges of the past. If either of you had even a tenth of the self awareness Shkreli possesses, I’d be surprised. The dude knew what he was doing and took a gamble standing on principle. I have yet to see anything which convinces me that you’ll ever know what that’s like.

As someone working in medical field, I just tested Gupta AI, advice was terrible, and at the end was, you should advise your physician. For basics medical knowledge it is ok, BUT for something more, doctors are the choice. Talking about beta blockers without all other medical information is not medicine, medicine needs big picture, and that is problem with AI's. They will give everyone similar advice, while people have commorbidities and all other set of problems.

AI is the 1st step to removing legal drug pushers/quacks. Chatgpt AI reading thru all of the medical studies means a computer is more likely to suggest X pharma co work with Y pharma co on this project for a solution that works. right now,, drugs are cleared at the FDA based on best bribes. look how many people played russian roulete with their lives taking the covid vax,, diluted batcrap.. no proof of cure! all for profit and a form or money laundering for investors.. now these companies want to sell you the cure for your new health problems. the world is full of snake oils.

there are a myriad of pitfalls when depending on AI for medical evaluation, treatment, and follow-up. One huge pitfall I can think of is communication. the average reading level of citizens in the US is 7-8th grade. How does AI communicate effectively with someone with 5th-grade English, or lower, broken English? Not effectively in my estimation, and these are frequently the ones who need more affordable access to care. I think AI will enable physicians to be much more effective physicians but don't seen doctors being replaced by AI in our lifetimes.

@@iykyk000 yes, and his utility theory of price is complete nonsense. People should have access to life saving medication for not an arm and a leg but instead available. As long as they are a contributor to society/others
@happytoberu

@@lewisistic nope, not what I’m saying at all. There can be regulation on these types of drugs. And they should be EXTREMELY affordable, especially to people who contribute to society. For example, insulin, is a life saving drug, 33% of the word is pre diabetic or diabetic. THEY NEED IT TO LIVE. Whether insurance covers it or not, it should be affordable. Right now, people pay hundreds of dollars a month for it. But what if one day, the insurance companies say, ALRIGHT WERE NOT PAYING FOR IT. And people like Martin are at the helm of these companies… you think they’ll make it AFFORDABLE? No, they’ll do everything they can to maximize profit AT THE SAKE OF CUSTOMERS LIVES. I think if your family’s lives or your own were at risk, you’d have a different perspective…

@@lewisistic Plenty of countries are able to provide life saving medicine for free to the consumer. People want to point their finger all the time at pharmaceutical companies but insurance companies are super crooked and hospitals too. I had to get an mri and the outpatient mri center said it would be cheaper to pay out of pocket if I haven’t met my insurance deductible. I know some OR nurses and they tell me that the mark up for the supplies they use in surgery is crazy. They basically act as middle men. They buy stuff for a reasonable price from their distributors and mark it up like crazy. Then there are also private equity groups taking over physician groups and other healthcare entities. He's obviously very well-spoken and articulate, but I see why views he has made him public enemy no. 1 at the time. His view on pricing for drugs makes sense from a market standpoint, but there are 365 million people in the country, most of whom are living paycheck to paycheck, and many of whom do not have health insurance through their employers. When they unexpectedly find out they have a disease, they are forced to go into debt they will never overcome just to treat it and continue living their lives with their loved ones. On the other hand, I don't think it should be the burden of private companies, who are obligated to make money for shareholders, to reduce their prices just for the sake of doing the right thing. The difference between those two equally reasonable positions needs to be covered by the government in some fashion. How that would look, I don't know, but life-saving medications need to be attainable to the lower and middle classes without financially ruining them -- $300k is a figure that would put the majority of people into insurmountable debt for life. The government has a responsibility to see to it that people do not die unnecessarily from otherwise treatable diseases simply because they can't afford to get treatment. I've never voted for a Democrat in my life by the way and I fully support Austrian Economics and the free markets, but there are some areas where governments have responsibilities to maintain or increase the average lifespans of its citizens over time. No one should be starving to death because they can't afford food -- which they don't here thankfully -- and no one should be dying because they are allergic to peanut butter and couldn't afford an Epi-Pen. The problem with Elon and Martin is that they're on the Autism spectrum and can't understand that they're severely deficient in messaging. If he simply had a PR professional addressing the media, or a lawyer, he may have stayed out of jail. He literally talked himself into jail.

The idea that the cost isn't to the patient but os to the insurance company is asinine. Insurance companies rely on a pool. Who puts up the money for the pool, the patient and other patients. If the pool runs dry what does the insurance company do? They increases prices on the insured. Insurance companies like banks don't use their own money to pay for things. So yes the cost ultimately is passed on to the patient and everyday people and that's for those with insurance.

I like this guy, but the market value for a medical product and even the need for the product is only where it's at because of the current system we have. If we never had corruption causing illness from man made means, and stalling basic progress and even regressing our knowledge with npc doctors, we'd be in a completely different world/value of drugs would be way down

This moment is both a learning opportunity and a bittersweet reflection. As a parent of a child with severe peanut allergies, I remember being unable to afford the $500 EpiPen to protect my child from potentially fatal allergic reactions. Over the years, Americans have had to deal with patented drugs or drug delivery systems that have become unaffordable. Is Martin Shkreli considered intelligent because he exploited the healthcare system at the expense of those who desperately needed these medications. Or maybe it's Mark Cuban who is intelligent for finding ways to increase access to medications at affordable prices. While some might argue this is simply American capitalism at work, we must question whether profit should come before people's lives. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

Setting the price for a product is not the issue. The problem arises when a company has a monopoly on that product and people don’t have a choice to buy it or not. This can affect their well-being if they don’t buy it. It’s not Martin’s fault; many companies are doing the same thing. For example, most drugs are cheaper outside the US. The fault lies in how the system works.

I think the flaw in his logic is that setting the price of medicine isn't analogous to setting the price of a podcast. The cost of certain goods is more regulated because it comes closer to being considered a human right, like housing, Pharma, water, and basic foods. That doesn't mean he should be the only one the regulations should apply to or that he should be regulated by embarassment.
