I think it's quite telling that each person Martin mentioned throughout this interview was coupled with, even if just in jest, a quick jab to get a little laugh at their expense, but when it came to what he had to say about Selena, he had nothing but emphatic praises for her. His sincere admiration was apparent! She's just very clearly a delightful person with great character. I'm obviously not acquainted with Selena Gomez personally, but considering all of the various accounts of her out there and the general attitude towards her (of people who actually know her, NOT the general public!), I think it's safe to say that she is just a kind, lovely person who gets A LOT of unfair judgement and criticism. And I will never be able to understand that! I suppose being objectively beautiful has it's own set of hardships and I've got to say, I don't envy her! You have to be incredibly secure and able to be kind to yourself to endure so much overwhelming negativity being directed at you. Selena does it so gracefully, it's inspiring!
