Martin Short, Steve Martin, Howard Stern react to Garry Shandling's death

Stars arriving at the Broadway premiere of the musical "Bright Star" Thursday (24 MARCH 2016), commented on the sad news of comedian Garry Shandling's death.
Steve Martin, who created "Bright Star"'s music, book and lyrics with Edie Brickell, said he had a "personal relationship" with Shandling.
"We never worked together so I had him for dinner, we spent time together, I found him to be incredibly funny and sharp and with a beautiful sense of humor. It's a real loss."
Radio personality Howard Stern was also moved remembering the comedian.
"Well I loved Garry very much," said Stern. "Garry was very important to me, not only as a comedy genius, someone I admired greatly for his comedy but he was very good to me personally. He was actually - I did an interview show for E! television years ago when I first started with them and I needed a first guest and I asked Garry Shandling to do it and he accepted in a second and that was very gracious of him and he was terrific and I stayed in touch with Garry, you know, throughout the years and just a great, great guy and I actually returned the favor. I went on his 'Larry Sanders Show,' which I am a huge fan of and I love him. Rest in peace, Garry Shandling."
Stern also gave a "hey now" into the microphone, a callback to Shandling's former comedy "The Larry Sanders Show." Set in the world of late night talk shows, Shandling played the titular host, Larry Sanders. Jeffrey Tambor was his sidekick who often used the phrase "hey now." The show ran for six seasons on HBO between 1992 and 1998.
Another celebrity who reacted to Shandling's death was actor Martin Short.
"I just found out a half an hour ago. I am completely speechless. I'm just stunned. A genius. So it's horrifying," he said.
Garry Shandling was 66-years-old.

I find it weird that Steve Martin says he "never worked" with Garry Shandling since they had a scene together, just the two of them, in Mixed Nuts (1994). Garry was at the height of his career at the time, so no one could forget sharing a scene with him. Very weird.
