I have related to this song since I first discovered it at around 15. This song always brings tears to my eyes. We were mistreated by our father growing up for normal child behaviors like making small mistakes. I still refuse to wear belts because they remind me of it. Even ping pong table paddles remind me of the large wooden one that was used on us. We all moved out of our house at 18 years old. After having children, I don’t know how anyone could ever hurt their child. Children are all blessings but are also human and make mistakes. It’s hard for children to understand at young ages why someone is hurting them. Please use positive reinforcement to teach our children.

You are wonderful to not replicate those behaviours. I don't think abuse is ever a mistake, he was wrong to do that and he knew it. My mum did the same to me except stilettos and not belts, alongside verbal degradation, and it just makes you feel so worthless. When I had to raise my sister, I made sure to never make her feel that way. No matter how angry I was, and I was just a teenager. I yelled of course but I never hit her and I was 11-17 so there honestly is no excuse for a grown adult to do that.

I so wish she had sung this at Casino Rama (Orilllia, Ontario, CA) on Friday. She was amazing and so friendly and personable with the audience. Her band is really good too. Great entertainer and performer and her songs sound very much like the original recordings which I love. Hate it when celebrity singer’s songs sound different in person than they do on the recording.
