I’m not in a photo rut but it’s videos like this that keep me inspired. I haven’t used a film camera in years. It’s time to dust off my old Olympus OM 1. Great photos thanks.

Whenever I have a block, I make drawings, or concentrate on writing , that usually helps. I was also told by someone if you walk two hours to anywhere, you will eventually see something. These are wonderful photographs. Thanks!

I so appreciated this video. I've had health issues that have left me dormant and uninspired. I watched this video and i feel some of it coming back. I love that you present various cameras & films too. I shoot mostly 35mm but some medium format. I really need to shoot more of it and this might be the kick in the pants I need. Thank you. Thank you!

Thanks for the video, Martin. I thought I was watching myself on TV at first. Love the camera collection and you have a great portfolio with some truly inspiring images. You obviously have a lot of technical ability as well as creativity. Thanks again 👍

This was very helpful with a topic I at least am familiar with. Getting in closer or playing with cropping when composing can create an entirely different image. Thanks for really inspiring videos!

Martin - You are brilliant and your photography is excellent! Thank you for taking the time to go out and make such interesting videos. My history is in newspapers (local to you hahaha) and I absolutely know that the advice you give on this video should be at the very heart of anyone who is a photographer and wants to take arresting and interesting images. Well done your work is appreciated!

A much needed video! The lockdown has a lot to answer for. I retired the week before all the lockdowns started and all those planned trips and holidays went to the wall. I also found that I had to do my photography alone: My impatient partner was a real drag, I really needed to spend the time even with my 'main' EOS6D Mk ii camera. My more quirky film cameras takes me much longer. Funnily enough, I was looking at some old photos of the town I live in, and was struck by how simple things like the clothes people wore, the cars, shops that have now gone. Those photos have preserved that history. I looked at my own high street now and saw people wearing masks, the Covid signs in the shops and the rest. Things that looked alien 2 years ago look normal now. How would your kids see those photos in 20 years time?

Maybe my favourite of all your videos. The unconventional opening (i.e., not a head shot of a stationary vlogger) really grabbed my attention and also gave me some good insights into how you designed your working space. The topic is not discussed that often and yet everyone will hit a block eventually. Last, but not least, some wonderful images. Kudos.

Great inspirational video. I have had most of these feeling lately and not been out taking shots. After watching this today I went out for a wander round a familiar spot and took some shots in a completely different way. They are probably the best I have taken in that area so I thank you for reviving my mojo a bit :)

What a wonderful collection of images Martin!! It would be hard to pick a favourite and I know I will want to look at them again. The one of the waterfall looks as if there are trees in the background with the water falling from nowhere. It really made me look twice. The one of the close up of the bird is very unusual. I love all the different tones and the texture. The motorway bridge is beautifully composed, which must have been difficult with pinhole. I also like the way the rivets make a focal point in the view under the bridge. I love all the portraits too, especially the one of the little girl looking up. I could go on and on, but thankyou very much for sharing these Martin, and for the inspiration.

When I lack motivation I normally buy another camera and then I'm motivated again :-) . Eleven cameras in the last 18 months from a £28 FED 5 to a slightly more expensive Mamiya 645 Pro TL. Bit bored this week - think I NEED a Texas Leica! Also just ordered all the gear for home developing, I used to do it back in the 70s but this time I'll go hybrid with film scanning and Lightroom etc.

hi , Martin I was wondering if there is reciprocity for 35mm colour film ... keep up the good work enjoy your channel and knowledge
@martinhensonphotography3 жыл бұрын
Yes there will be reciprocity failure for colour and slide film , Kodak Portra as an example 10 exposure reading will require around 20 sec to get a correct exposure
