you should make a video explaining pillow ball mounts and rubber mounts, because a lot of people new to coilovers they think driving is going to feel as oem suspension, and there is when these mounts play a key role when prioritizing performance or comfort it would help people to choose the right upper mounts according to their needs

Tbh, I think these videos spewing random facts picks up the grey areas where videos about "You want to buy this, here's what you need to know", leave out. I've been deciding on a set of Redshift BC coilovers vs KW for my own ride, and this video honestly helped in deciding what I think is right for me vs what might be somewhat overkill, since the most I do is aggressive spirited driving in the mountains, and on almost ever y freeway entrance and exit. So thank you.

You said fortune auto 500s should be bought if you track or do something aggressive with your car. I mostly daily mine, but hate how soft the stock suspension is (rz34). I want to try a set of digressive suspension that also has adjustable dampening. I might track the car occasionally (going to a track this weekend). Tracks are expensive to prepare for, so I might not do it that often. Would you still recommend the 500s?

i think it’s important to also recognize that many coilover companies offer multile tiers of coilovers. a great example of this is Tein. their entry level coilovers are cheap and get the job done on the street. but they also make some incredibly good motorsports oriented coilovers like the SRCs that are much more expensive but much better quality

Back when I was into cars... I had an evo 9 MR SE edition. Very rare trim. Bought right off the showroom floor. I was the first person in the USA to have a rare combination of parts... One was a bolt on ball bearing turbo that was the equivalent to a GT35R. It was an FP Black. This was before they offered their turbos with ball bearing. I also had the first built 6 Speed MR transmission thanks to Shep Trans in Ohio. I made him do it after getting hundreds of people to sign a document saying theyd pay for one if he built it because he was afraid of doing the work and it not being worth it for him. But I got him the incentive. Was also the first to put aluminum rods on a 2.4L stroker kit for the evo9. She put out 500-600 on 93octane depending on boost. I put on a pair of KW V3's on that car, got it corner weighted/balanced and professionally aligned... And had am absolute blast at NJMP & Limerock. You arent kidding about them. They are on another level of feel. Its like mixing factory comfort, with raw racing pedigree. I've since grown out of modifying cars.. but I sim race here and there because racing talent runs in my blood. Good times.

For me on the daily driver, value end. Godspeed and maxspeedingrods t6 or t7 are best dollar for performance. Just look over them and make sure all the bolts/nuts are tight and you'll get just as many years as many $1000ish coils. Edit: I'm stating this opinion having owned 50+ cars but never one newer than 2002 other than a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 with godspeeds.

@@Davorox1 yeah I've had them on 7 different honda's and have always been impressed for the price. Just make sure the top hat nut is tightened correctly and preload is even on all 4 (usually is) and I've had great luck with them both slammed as well as just a tad low. They feel nice and seem to last better than the no names or rev9 types.

Absolutely not! How anyone could shamelessly not only support but recommend for others to use such low-end, cheaply built, poor quality suspension is beyond belief. Both Godspeed and MaxpeedingRods are terrible brands. They have poor quality control, they use low quality oils in their dampeners, leading to massive cavitation within the shocks during articulation, they use cheap seals that often aren't seated right, resulting in premature blowout. I could go on and on about it, but there is no need to. All you need to know about MaxpeedingRods is in the name. It's a nonsense Chinese market name, where they misspelled their own brand. If they couldn't even put the quality control into their name to ensure it was spelled correctly, why would you trust their craftsmanship with your safety? Suspension and tires are 2 areas of a car you should NEVER cheap out on. Not only are they the most important element for shaving down lap times, but they are also the most important for your safety.

Great video! I know entry level coilovers are getting better, but years ago on my Subie I went from, in today's dollars, $1200 to $3000 coilovers, and the ride quality difference was night and day...primarily from the valving I think. Both were similar stiffness in the corner, but the more expensive were far better absorbing bumps, etc.

I've had numerous people having them lose out to Solo Werks. 3 examples below. Buddy A (MK& GTI) on Solo Werks: Says they're good for the price, but nothing special. They get bumpy and jumpy after some time, roughly 2 years or so in his experience. Tried Race Land but went right back to Solo Werks after about 4 months. Buddy B (Focus ST) on Race Land: Hated the Race Land, had issues with failure, purchased Solo Werks. Coworker (MK5 GTI) on Race Land: This dude bought the car with Race Lands installed and just shat on them. Not very useful because he just said they sucked with no useful feedback Now, that's just 3 accounts out of thousands of people who probably have had no issues with Raceland and love them. Guess you might have to give it a shot and find out.

Buying FAs will rob you your total suspension travel. You have to know what you're doing with setting up a set of 2 piece coilovers. While on the other hand, KW usually makes their shocks specific to the platform, such that they will retain a lot of the factory suspension travel, which is a key to your street comfort.

One added thing for coilovers: If you get them, and your goal is to improve handling and not just get your wheels "hella flush", do yourself a favor and get the vehicle corner weighted. This is when theyll put the car on 4 scales, and then adjust each corner individually to adjust the static / sitting weight distribution of the car. This is *vital* for dialing in your coilovers, and getting the car to handle as good as possible. Not corner weighting your car, would be like getting a stand alone ECU, and then not getting the ECU tuned.

I've got an 06 forester and it's auto witch doesn't bother me cause I wanna make a daily drive OEM+ kind of build and I've been told that the auto transmission gets confused with the changes if I put bigger wheel on it which is something I want to do along with the coilovers... Is that true will i have a problem? And I wanna be able to hit some mountain hills but I don't want to compromise the daily comfort what's the solution to this??

Appreciate Teins is the benchmark for a decent entry to this realm, but whilst price is a good gauge for determining quality - What would you say to popular japan tuning companies. I.e Blitz with their ZZR range which is slightly cheaper than Tein's Flex Z? They seem to be manufactured in Taiwan like most of the lower end brands, but does their oil and shock compression stack up on par with mid range BC or Teins? Thanks in advance!

I get quite confused by American/European model naming, but do you have any options for the 1989-1998 Silvia S13 Coupe? I can't seem to see any in the build gallery and the only filter options are either the 240sx or 200sx, Which I believe are the American and European names for the 180sx Hatch/Liftback.
