Blow through boost is something different and special. There’s a few people running blow through setups and they are effective. Just a lot harder to tune properly.

I thought diverter valves decreased turbo lag while BOV gives a good noise, but increased lag 😂😂 now im even happier with my BOV 😂😂

If you put a BOV in without a Speed Density tune; you will get pre-det on a subaru or about anything else kind of modern without direct injection. You can get the cool noises with a diverter valve if you get a good one. Or dual port like @xxasunaxkiritoxx said. You can dial in just enough noise. Or keep everything stock but delete the intake silencer bottle on the bottom of the intake box. You will hear the noise from a stock diverter like a blow off, and you will hear the turbo noises. If you do a tune and silencer delete only you will get some good noises.

@@DriftNick the tune will get messed up and the car will go super rich then super lean. Anything that uses MAF for the AFR and does not use some kind speed density tune will have that issue. The usdm Subaru stuff has basically no ringland so you will have piston failure on anything but the type Ra block.

@@DriftNick I know the r35 gtr has the same issue, so does bmw and vw, but I do not know much about tuning other cars. Older cars from the 90's and back used speed density and the manifold pressure to base fuel on.

A bov will keep your turbo spooling faster than a diverter valve between quick shifts. It just comes down to pressure differential.

is also important to understand in BOV that changing the rates of the springs can be beneficial if you are not trying to go on an external wastegate. my mine runs a turbosport kompact BOV EM VR10 and eventually as i continued to throw parts at this car required a higher psi spring and to be tuned again. hot take... stop dynotuning your cars that have bolt on. Its not necessary the hand held tuner you use and the custom tunes you get are perfectly fine. If you have something extremely not stock, turbo set ups, engine, transmissions do dyno tuning.

Good video , I really think BOV VS Recirc is really simple: If you have a MAF based ECU , stay with a Recirc , even if you do tune your ecu to compensate for the rich mixture upon the BOV opening , depending on air density you will never be able to truly tune for that scenario. You can help it , but 100% control it ? not really. Subarus are notorious for needing speed density tunes, otherwise they predet. If you have a MAP based ECU , then both will work with a proper tune to back it. You could most likely get away with it without a tune even.

As far as WRX EJ’s go, Unless you have a built and tuned 400WHP motor DO NOT put on a BOV. Bypass/Diverter valve is the best bet and better for the motor and turbo.

Boost control changes how much pressure is needed to open the wastegate, which is on the exhaust side of the system. It’s not really related to the BOV/diverter valve.

No. That has to do with the waste gate actuation, and you should not put those on anything with a reasonable ECU. Those have been obsolete since electronic valves became common in the 90's. Don't be lazy and tune properly. You will make way more power with way less lag. Boost is the enemy of power anyways so if you drop your IAT and are tuned by boost only, you will run lean and burn up.

now i understood what that weird pipe from my intake goes back into my throttle body thanks i bought a Turbo hatchback and i was wondering what is this pipe ??? i thought it was some sort of PCV but it was not that lol I thought all cars had blow offs in the atmosphere but now i understood exactly why the piping in my stock car has been made this way !! thank you dude now i can remove all that crap and put some good for sure !

If you drive a mini, I'm pretty sure you're talking about the pipe that diverts slme of the air into the cabin to have the turbo be louder If it's nkt a mini it's still probably that I just can't say for sure lol

So. I've been having trouble with my turbo keeping it's boost even in idle, and having to dump it when I get home, every time. Would a blow off valve be what I need to help correct this? 09 Mini Cooper S Clubman, Turbo swap to aftermarket Falken JCW turbo. Also adding AM intake hose and air box.
