I still remember when the R35 came out, there was a huge amount of worry that the car relied too much on fancy electronics, and would make tuning next to impossible. And because tuners loved how easy the RB26 was to tune and mod, they were worried and kind of hated the R35 at first because they thought it didn’t deserve to have a GTR name if you couldn’t tune and mod it. Funny how once tuners were able to actually get their hands on the R35, those tuner worries turned out to be nothing to fear and the R35 became one of the best tuning platforms of all time, just like the GTR’s before it.

That's the beauty of a stock GT-R. It'll beat everything out there with NO mods. (Not sure why your modification costs are so high. You can get a stock GT-R, spend around 50k to get 1,000 whp.)
@jamiethomas33069 ай бұрын
@@advicemaster1365Hate to bust your bubble but modifying a GTR is very expensive. I have a 2012 slightly modified to around 740-750hp. With my mods that were on the car before I bought it (just engine wise) upgraded fuel pumps, 1300cc injectors, Synapse 3” intake housing, upgraded blowoff valves, AMS 90mm no cat/ down pipes w/ AMS y pipe, Akrapovic exhaust w/ carbon tailpipe set, Buschur racing flex fuel E85 with Zeitronix digital reader, ECUtek tune w/ boost map up to 20lbs. Now just the exhaust system including the AMS piping is $8k and that was in 2014-2015 without labor. The problem modifying the GTR is the transmission. Once you hit a certain threshold of HP your torque will also start increasing. The stock Tran will handle 650lbs of TQ. My launch control has to be set up to launch at 2500rpms not 4k like stock GTRs. So then like the other gentleman he had to go to most likely go to Shepherd and that was 10k at least without installation. So no, $50k won’t get you 1000hp unless you have some major connections and do all the work yourself and then no you still won’t be there!

The GTR is such an engineering marvel. Always knew it was but its even more so after living with one for a few months now. I love that this video also touches on how the VR came to be, with the VQ in the 4th generation Maxima being a key ancestor, a car which I also have owned for 25 years. We have come full circle. Also, the VQ30DE made 190HP until 2000 when it made 227 with the VQ30DEK. Nowadays, people think of Z/G/Q when you talk about VQs but they tend to forget that it was Maximas that paved the way. So many Maxima builds led the way for those guys and the future builds to really push the boundaries of what the VQ can accomplish.

Sir, I just want to say THANK YOU for your authenticity and obvious passion for petrol powered cars and not featuring any EVs. I love your content and always look forward to seeing new videos. Your high quality and sophisticated real and computer-generated images, real-life looking animation of engine operation and classic as the latest hyper-cars are simply stunning. Your hard work, creativity and passion poured into your entertaining, detailed video reviews and high-end content that always include exact, factual information make the content from even the 2-10 million subscriber channels look like the work of a teenager in their parents’ basement. I appreciate your approachable, James Earl Jones baritone delivery, the lack of excessive hyperbole and overdramatized reactions from “reviews” who pretend to be real “petrol-heads” but fail miserably. You can tell they’ve never turned wrenches other than to tighten the bolts of their egos. They try so desperately to generate novelty for the sole purpose of racking up subscriber numbers by shamelessly (and often excessively) begging viewers to subscribe to help monetize their content and pay for their “influencer” lifestyle. I PAY FOR KZbin PREMIUM TO PRECISELY AVOID EXCESSIVE ADS and to watch informative content like 337s, Throttle House Hagerty, but most, if not all, of the channels with millions of subscribers that present automative content are SO OVER-SATURATED with plugs for aftermarket companies and their advertising “partners” sponsor brands (most of which are completely irrelevant to the automotive world) in exchange for free products and services for the channel. YA HEAR ME DONUT & Mr. JWW who flaunts his wealth so shamelessly. Finally, so many channels’ “expert, unbiased” reviews are often flawed by their necessity to pander to OEMs for future access to future events and test vehicles and invites to performance experience events for their customers. 337 SPEED is truly one of few remaining true auto enthusiast channels who provide detailed information about the cars for diehard petrolheads like myself that can actually afford and tune, with nonsense, factual very detailed information while remaining as enjoyable and informative to watch as Hagerty’s high quality, well-produced videos with the funny as heck yet seriously knowledgeable Jason Camissa and articulate, affable Henry Catchpole, and of course the Canadians (and a Brit) at Throttle House and Savagegeese, with their self-deprecating humor, whom I admire and applaud for being unafraid of negative reviews and feedback, in spite of potentially pissing off OEMs the likes of Ferrari (like the Chris Harris of old) and potentially losing access to test vehicle fleets. Proof: watch the Throttle House gents and the crappy, broken Ferrari Purosangue they were provided in Italy. I’m truly grateful that there are still people like you on KZbin who keep it real and provide high quality entertaining content. So, I wish 337 SPEED the very best and hope one day soon you WILL HIT THE 10-50M subscribers milestone because you actually deserve it, and it will allow you to enhance your amazing content even further while opening the floodgates for you to grab OEM attention and allow you well-deserved access to their test fleet, launch events as well attend OEM-sponsored customer product experience events so you can objectively show us regular folk how the other side live and get to play. It puts 360 hp to the ground, 100% stock and mint. Perfect balance and aerodynamics. And the g35's drag coefficient of .28 , beats most other production cars. It is so fun to walk Stangs and Camaros on the streets. On the track, it passes 911's easily. These cars are fun and are so underrated.

VQ35HR, VQ37VHR, VR30DETT (when they don’t blow up) and VR38DETT are the best Nissan V6s ever made. Some of the best engines of all time, they hit the perfect trifecta of cheap, reliable, and easy to modify (and reliable when modded).

VR30*DDTT* not DETT. VR = Engine Family. 30= 3.0L displacement.The first D = Dual Overhead Camshafts. Second D = Direct Injection. TT = Twin Turbo.

Keep in mind that vr30 with the new Turbos made 700whp on e30-e50. Vr30 from Bonnie & Clyde made 800ish whp on stock block. This car was constantly at the dragstrip and being hotlapped.
@Enthusiastlist Жыл бұрын
IMO The problem with the VR30 besides it’s reliability issues is it’s just too little too late, if it had come out 10 years ago it would’ve set the world on fire but now everything else is better. B58, Coyote & daza put it to shame in every way possible.
@supremecy187 Жыл бұрын
@@Enthusiastlist It's pretty reliable and can hold a lot of power on stock block. As I mentioned it was close to getting 900 whp on a stock block. Vr30 vs the b58, coyote is actually pretty close and have numerous back and forth races. Heck the Vr30 beat the b58 at a race event. The Vr30 didn't have a light weight sports car like the Supra to make the engine seem more impressive. The vr30 is like 3900-4000 pounds so its on the heavier side. New turbos for the platform were released recently that will get it to the 800whp range. Don't know much about the Daza but from what I've seen it is pretty good too.
@unculturedswine9984 Жыл бұрын
@@supremecy187let these little boys know. It's crazy how much potential the vr30 really is now that the z came out. I don't even think the b58 can handle 800whp stock block lmao. Nissan is the king of jdm

I think the whole "idle like stock" argument comes down to modern hardware more than the engine design (i.e. Modern ecu, drive by wire, idle control, vcam etc..). The RB26 can idle fine at 1000whp as well as be driveable on the street, its downfall was more primarily the sump design causing twist on the block as well as weak oil pump gears. Outside of that the RB has the same aftermarkert support as the VR38, sounds better and has been a proven performer. I think in the late 90s/early 2000s your argument around the v6 design is valid as it was easier to make torque with more displacement, but in 2023, modern ecu, modern fuelling, responsive turbo techology - i think the RB is on the same level in refinement. Same goes for the 2JZ which the bottom end can support more than the VR38 and the 2j also came with variable cam timing. I've done a simple RB28 build on my R34 GTR with a Haltech elite 2500, modern injectors, modern fuelling system, HKS VCAM, pair of turbos and tune, the thing comes on boost at 2500rpm and is killer on the street. Can easily be dailied. Granted im not making 1000hp, but my point is whatever advantages the VR38 had, the RB can have as well..
@anydaynow01 Жыл бұрын
And they fixed the oiling issues on the latter model RBs, which is just a simple oil pump and a crank swap for earlier models (which if someone is making the big power numbers to they are opening the engine anyway). And totally agreed that the RB is the best naturally sounding JDM engine going full tilt in the red, the LFA engine needed some Yamaha magic to get it's awesome sound.
