As a young 2004 6mt G35 owner (22) the g35 has been my dream “affordable” car I’ve owned mine since I was 19 there’s not a day where I drive it and I DONT beat on it, living in SoCal I don’t do takeovers or any of that, I just keep the car in the high RPM’s. But so far I never had a hiccup with mine I never had a breakdown or been stranded by mine. That being said I did maintenance over mods (upgraded radiator, motor mounts , coolant lines, cd009 etc) in my OPINION the bad reviews about this car come from uneducated car people that think you just put gas and run the car. This car is nothing like that, you HAVE to keep up with maintenance you HAVE to check fluids, you HAVE to love the car in order for it to work how it’s supposed too. Long story short if you know how to wrench and to do oil changes this car WILL teach you alot. I don’t plan to everrrrr get rid of mine :)

Fun facts: The Infiniti G35 Sedan was actually designed in the late 90s and was shown as a concept car in 1999 at the Tokyo Auto Show, named XVL Concept. Another fun fact: The R34 engineer intended for the car to be fitted with a V6 engine (Possibly the VQ, I could be wrong), but the plan was thrown out due to budget developing the engine to be performance worthy for the GTR badge.

They're in the thrashed phase, just like the DSM's...and in 15 years even the thrashed ones will cost bucks. Remember when 240sx's were $4500?
@viktorzzz21244 ай бұрын
Yes thats what im saying!
@ibrahimelmi2103 ай бұрын
I disagree. there are wayyy more Gs in the streets than 240s ever where. from what i just searched online only 250k 240sx were sold in the USA from 89 model year to 98 model year so both s13 and s14. thats like 27k sold a year and no one even wants the kouki which are over half of the s14. and alot of 240sx were destroyed drifting. while the g35 was doing an average of around 60k a year for every year it was sold. g37 was about 50k a year sold. I cant go outside without seeing a g35 and g37, usually multiple. Havent seen a 240sx in months. Gs are gonna be like box chevy, sn95 mustang, etc they are already cheap and a thrashed example will be pretty worthless in the future, but the real nice ones will be worth an ok amount but nothing crazy there are just too many g35/g37 in the streets bc infinti was a brand that luxury wannabes w bad credit gravitated too bc they could get approved. but I can see the 350/370 going up in price bc there are way less of them on the streets and they were true sport cars and were destroyed drifting just like the 240sx. and drifter culture love Zs more than Gs. so those are the only vq worth investing in
@artemiscool673 ай бұрын
@@ibrahimelmi210 so you actually agree partially (suggesting a nice one might not be 'worthless') -yet, folks could've said the same thing about DSM's. It was a cheap clapped out Mitsu...until it wasn't. A thrashed G example is worthless now b/c it's not hard to find. Thrashed in 15 years will definitely not be worthless b/c it's unlikely you'll have the same parts availability as today . The car being a cheaper luxury ride in its day has nothing to do w/ it. Given time It's a rear drive coupe that had a manual. The less of them on the streets over time the more remaining examples likely rise in value. Your Mustang example is a terrible comparison (and strange since you''ve referenced one specific type). The prices on older Mustangs (all) have already leveled-off price wise. Every 5 years it will get harder to get one just based on availability.
@ibrahimelmi2103 ай бұрын
@@artemiscool67 DSMs had 4g63s running 8s for cheap on the drag strip. never seen a vq run 8s so thats a pretty terrible comparison. sn95 is a better comparison IMO. bc they are the least desirable mustang. comparing an import to a domestic wouldnt be fair otherwise as far us market so had to use the sn95 even though they arent quite old enough. there is a similar amount of them on the streets. I dont think its as simple as every rwd manual car will be worth more in 15 years. depends on restorability, speed in comparison to the super fast cars of the future, and more. im 26 and most people I know cant even drive a manual. At least in the US the demand isnt gonna be that crazy just bc a car has a manual. NA v8s though maybe, because of sound.
@artemiscool673 ай бұрын
@@ibrahimelmi210 I had 3 DSM's over time (2 were 4G63's); that car does not run 8's on the cheap. Anything under 11 on that car was spending bucks. Believe it or not, they didn't sell anywhere near as successful as the G35's did. Regardless, a car's desirability isn't just based on the 1/4 mile. I'm surprised you've even mentioned it. I'm quite a bit older and I've seen even old Acura Legends/Vigors/Lexus SC300's/IS300's etc climbing in prices (and all went through the thrashed phase). None are dragstrip beasts w/o extensive work. We can go into every reason why under the sun as to why....but the fact is it comes down to time, and what the car offers. And let's be honest, love or hate the car, it ALREADY has a level of desirability (otherwise we wouldn't see the aftermarket support) We can't compare the 'least desirable' Mustang to one of Infinit's best products (to say nothing of it's JDM heritage) and count that as comparable; Correct, it's not as simple as every rwd manual will be worth more....however, that's a big factor in future desirability, as that combo is seen less and less as time goes on. You're correct in that manual cars aren't in high demand--but that's for the masses, and is a point you're missing. Folks who keep classic cars or maintain old ones aren't marketing them to regular average Joe's. How many average folks do you see trying to buy older/classic cars? Not many, right? But then ask why they still fetch the prices they do.

I had a lot of fun with mine before I sold it. Honestly would make a great daily if it didn't get such atrocious gas mileage. The Lexus 2gr fse and BMW M54 and N52 got at least 30mpg highway and 23-25 combined while I struggled to average 20mpg even dipping down to 17mpg at times. At that point, you might as well grab a V8 car.
@infinitiMC74714 ай бұрын
@@nateTrh get ya, gas is one of its biggest downsides. Although to be fair any old v6 car would have the same issue, at least I assume. Although what would you say a good alternative is to the G35? There are not a lot of cars at the same price for what the G offers
@nateTrh4 ай бұрын
@gamerpro4667 If you're ok with slightly less power, E46 sedans and coupes are around the same price with much nicer interiors and easier to work on engines. Besides that, there's sadly not anything else in the immediate price range. IS350's generally cost $1-3k more and 335i BMW's generally cost more in terms of maintenance but can make huge power. Once you hit the $15-20k price point though, a lot of options open up but I'd say Infiniti and BMW are the only ones that offer used, 6 cylinder, manual, rwd cars for under $5k.

The Skyline name goes back further than the R32, R33, and R34 days. It was called a Prince Skyline from the Prince Motor Company. When they merged with Nissan in the 60's, it became a Nissan Skyline. Sedans and then coupes. The G35s were built in Japan. All they did was rebadge them and changed the location of the steering wheel. The center console has buttons that would be for a right-hand driver still, lol. It's the exact same car.

However, the G series is infamous for it's oil consumption problem (G35) and fragile coolant hose problem that causes the car to lose coolant fluid but these should be an easy fix. Otherwise, these cars don't have that much of a problem at all. Great prices, reliable engine and fun to drive. Personally, if you get a G35, auto or manual, go for any of the 05-07 ones, those year ones have a bunch of updated things from interior to suspension to engine stuff and even some exterior things, the 05-06 coupe autos come with the normal DE with a bunch of updated stuff such as fixed oil pump issues and a upped rpm limit, auto/manual 07 sedans came with the VQ35HR as well as being a part of the V36 chassis rather than being a V35, the 05-06 Coupe manuals did come with the rev up but... if you want oil issues then go for it. Basically imo, go for a 05-07 G35 rarher than an 03-04 G35... also do be careful when looking up parts for an 03-04 or 05-07 because they revised a LOT of things...

Recently acquired a moonlight pearl white 2012 G25 Journey that, despite multiple owners, is in nearly PERFERCT condition...I mean, the leather seats inside arent even worn or cracked. I have seen brand new cars in worse condition than this car the ONLY points of concern are that a previous owner scraped up the front bumper just in front of both tires (obviously misjudging a few inclines) and the driver side fog light is cracked. That is literally it, the rest of the car looks like it just rolled fresh off the factory floor. I was SHOCKED at how low the price was from the dealer for it, and was even more shocked what they ended up taking for me to drive off in it. Sticker was $7,250. I managed to walk off for $5k including TTF and all that (so $4250 for the car itself without the fees and such). I dont plan to modify it at all. Not putting a 37 engine, not messing with the exhaust, not messing with the wheels...this isnt a 35 or 37 anyway, but Im not a "sports car" guy. I get that out of my system plenty by just playing Need For Speed or Midnight Club games lol. I plan to just take real nice care of the car and let it be the luxury car it was supposed to be. Going to put new oem fog lights on, get the bumper touched up in matching moonlight pearl white, and thats it. This car is just too gorgeous for anything else. With how few of these Infiniti made and sold in the US, I think it would be a CRIME to do ANYTHING to this car. This is, hopefully, my "million mile car". (181k miles when I got it. These cars can easily hit over 300k if properly cared for)

Owned a G35 sedan. As a daily it was somewhat reliable. Fuel guage can be a pain in the butt.

I'd really love to hear about the next generation the G37 and get a more in depth video about them. Not much info about them out there unless you're in that group

The G35 was really the car to have back then. They have aged terribly but there’s nothing like a well kept 6MT G35.

Can you make a video on why people “stretch” tires? Is it just for looks is there any benefit or at what point does it become detrimental? Or is it just to be slammed 😎?
