Martinsville is NASCARS most historic short track. Mr. Earles founded the track in 1947. The track has a “paperclip” shape. Martinsville is the only track which has hosted NASCAR Cup Series races every year since the Cup Series inception in 1949. Seating for the fans is close to the track. Famous for a lot of things, Martinsville Speedway has a famous hot dog. For more than 50 years, the Speedway concessions have featured a $2 hot dog on a steamed bun with mustard, chilli, vinegar cole slaw and sweet onions. For a short track, the cars run at speeds up to about 150 mph, yet the winning team often is the one who wins the race strategy game. The most successful NASCAR Cup Series driver at Martinsville Speedway is Richard Petty with fifteen wins. “King Richard” has twelve of the famous Martinsville Speedway Grandfather Clocks. Tennessee’s Darrell Waltrip won eleven times at Martinsville Speedway. Thanks to the Petty Brothers Racing channel for providing their insight to the history of Martinsville Speedway.

I vote for Kermits for a great dawg! We stop every weekend when we go to Bowman Gray. Old fashioned curb service.
