"it would be the truth" that line is everything, and i love how the show and roger (at least until the disgusting "re-rape" storyline ugh) never tried to fully redeem todd, or romanticize or shy away from what a monster he could be. even his relationships with blair and tea, the two great loves of his life, were deeply abusive, and despite his redeeming qualities and the fact that he and marty had managed to move on with their lives, nothing would ever erase what he did. rape is unfortunately a staple in soaps and this is one of the few storylines that handled it well in that it had realistic, lasting consequences.

Todd leading a gang rape is so much more horrific than if Todd had raped her by himself but you are right they are making it seem like it was just him. Like he got drunk one night and lost it. What they are doing now sickens me because they are rewriting history to make it seem LESS severe than what it was.

Yeah but "that night" was just the beginning. He was a total monster to her for a long time afterwards. They finally came to peace but then Todd starts hurting her all over again thru Patrick. Todd never learned. Revenge led him to rape Marty in the 1st place. His need 4 revenge is what caused him to go after Patrick. So yeah he SAID he was sorry but he's not ACTING like it. But if he did, he wouldn't be Todd so no thanks to him becoming some apologetic saint.

I absolutely agree. I don't buy Todd was in love with her or any of that. Even when you look at the early episodes, he wasn't ever in love with her. He slept with her (like a jock) and left. Then they got into it and he wanted revenge. Never love. The writers tried to make it a thing but I'm glad neither wanted to follow through with that s/l. Todd not only raped Marty but he was an absolute monster to her before the "redemption" arch.

I don’t believe this the same writers. The initial writers for the gang rape storyline never intended for Todd and Marty to become a romantic couple. (I believe they did have a one night stand before the rape). Todd was largely written to be a one off villain until fans loved to hate him and they retconned him as Viki’s brother.

Marty forgave Todd when it was convenient for her, then she also held Todd's past against him when it was also convenient for her. She had no problem accepting a ride on Todd's private plane when she needed to fly back to the United States from Ireland.

I know. This Todd & Marty had great writing. The rape connected them in way that neither of them could get away from. Marty wanted to hate Todd but she couldn't really. She hated what he did to her but not him. After the rape she was always helping him, coming to his defense. Now, she just hates him which kills the chemistry. The new writers should have never let them get involved if they were not going to keep them together.

She tried to hit Todd and then asked to be let go when he grabbed her arm. 🤷🏿‍♀️ I will always love how RH refused to go that route and was THRILLED on OLTL when Todd was like, that never dawned on y'all that's something I wouldn't do, when he found out what Victor did with Marty.

He freaked out like that because of his remorse for raping her and vowing to himself to never physically harm her again. In fact, like he stated in this video, he wasn't trying to harm her by going after Patrick. He never wants to harm her in any way ever again.

Haters gonna hate. Don't worry about them and their comments... it's really sad when people can't tell fact from fiction. I don't blame people for hating or liking Todd... in fact, the reason I like Todd is how Roger plays him. He respects and is a master at the craft. Howarth also said it himself that he doesn't care about the fame... that he just wants to do good work. You can imagine the flak he got for playing this role. I always say (to myself and others), thank God this is a soap opera.... because chances are, this probably wouldn't fly in real life.

RH wanted him to be a villain and Todd was a villain. But there are those who look hard for excuses for his actions and largely minimize his bad behavior. Sadly, he's still kidnapping and seeking violent revenge in 2011. Todd's not all bad. He feels guilt about some things, does a few good deeds, especially for Marty. He gains slightly in humanity and sensitivity over the years and develops a few strong attachments. But his villainy is def a bigger part of him than any other part!

I think todd always respected marty and felt guilt but getting her to fall in love with him was such crap. And to have sex ??? So glad Rh came back and called that crap out to everyone that he'd never do that and should have been there first clue victor Jr wasn't todd Patrick was such an unpopular character & when he left with marty she was having a daughter and starr was 2 when Cole was born. I hate when they mess up time lines . Also someone had a theory once that when patrick died marty brought Cole to lain view as her revenge on todd I mean her son got todd teenage child pregnant. Marty was not miss innocent when she first arrived and it's odd she wouod uproot her son in calif to move back to where her rapist had bern living and send her son to the same hs as hos daughter which she knew about starr obviously as she was painfully intertwined in a quad with patrick todd blair marty. That pregnancy of Blairs was a horrible idea I was glad the labines corrected it.

If you think about it, Marty came back to Llanview after Patrick died. I think it's cause she had no one. She already had no family, then her husband dies. The only people she has close ties to are in Llanview. And it's not like she hadn't already lived in town with Todd before, and most people hate him. I don't think Marty had anything to do with Starr getting pregnant; she was presumed dead at the time.

Viki had dropped Marty as her surrogate daughter once she found out todd was her brother & viki adored todd remember ? She was on his side all the way. Andy was gone & honestly her only friend left was nora. Her parents mansion was sold way b4 she met Patrick & her mill house was sold to kevin & cassie. Everyone she was close to was gone. So Cole's father dies in his junior year of college. They lived in California. So wouldnt he need his friends & teachers counselors & community more than ever . To uproot him right before his senior year of hs even without a dead father is cruel. Plus marty doesn't maybe warn her son about starr & who her dad is. Victor jr as todd did accuse her of moving there to set up starr & marty said " what if I did? " I remember being dissapointed they hired kristen's real brother to play matthew. Bc if they had hired another actor I much rather have seen Todd's kid & nora 's. Can u imagine. Marty & Todd's kids is so obvious & just more desperately trying to push them together when in reality Marty rarely spent time with hope not dod victor jr. Its a grandchild & most joint grandparents dont really interact except joint bdays or a wedding . A grandchild is too far removed. Plus nora & todd interactions always were great.
