Can you do a lesson on Dig by Incubus? That would be really cool.
@aimin2game2855 жыл бұрын
hello, i would love to see a lesson of guitar songs you can do in order to improve i'm self taught so far with help from your videos, but at times i pick up songs that seem way out of my league at the moment, so im trying to find a route to work myself up to the point of these songs also maybe a place to get good reliable tabs either off a cheap subscription or free ultimate-guitar is not my favorite thing to use lol

There Top Five things that I like about Marty's vids. 5. He doesn't get all tied up in music theory. 4. He doesn't "show off" and look at me and how great I am. 3. He uses easy peasy chords. It may not be in the same key as the recording or artist but that's what a capo is for. 2. MARTY CAN TEACH. Being able to play something is one thing, having THE ABILITY TO TEACH it is what matters. 1. He seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to hang out with.
@dovydas44833 жыл бұрын
Meh, you need music theory and analyzing songs is actually pretty good and man you neeed to LEANR FUCKING BAR CHORDS. Easy peasy chords wont gwt you anywhere...
@counciousstream3 жыл бұрын
@@dovydas4483 Yeah, ezpeasy chords get you there. You can play most of them as bar chords, the same chord shapes, anywhere on the neck. The root 6, 5 and 4 chord shapes easily slide up with a bar. If you bang away at metal music then the bar chord, actually the 3 note power chord is your go-to. As for music theory I have met a lot of folks who are self taught and play by ear, I know people who have been taught and know how to read music (tabs doesn't count), and I know people who act like they know music theory. Theory isn't essential to learn songs that you can play for others, neither are bar chords.

Mike Einziger is one very underrated guitar player!! Him and Dean Deleo STP are two of my favorites! I love their jazz influence in rock!
@ComradeStiv10 ай бұрын
Mike is *_very far_* from "underrated" LOL. That's the most overused and misused word ever. His substantial chops and musical knowledge are widely recognized and respected by peers and fans alike - the total opposite of "underrated." I'm a jazzer and rocker who's been at it forever and still learn tons from studying his fresh imaginative techniques, voicings, and odd syncopation. His musical ideas are the secret sauce; it's what gives them their magical unusual sound that grabs your attention. Incubus wouldn't sound like Incubus without him. Mikey is the mf man bro, agreed.

Marty thanks for being my unpaid teachers assistant.. appreciate it ☺ I too have zillions of songs I can teach students, and any missing ones you _almost always_ have.. which is crazy. I mean ... 3k+ videos?? That's just *_mad_* bro. And (thankfully) good accuracy overall. Good ear! Def _cannot_ say that for everyone lol. While teaching students the process of figuring out tunes _completely_ on their own by ear is also extremely valuable, sometimes we'll just watch your tutorials together (or assign as homework), add/tweak a few things, answer questions, etc. You're my goto guy on YT not just for huge repertoire, but because you get to the point, don't waste time tryna be cutesy, and already _correctly_ worked out important details, saving me time. So thank you 🤙
