For the ones where the comment has been erased or not approved : "Message to people who come here to insult, tell bad things about Mr Williams or his music, or don't agree with the playlist of this film music medley (YOU ARE PLENTY !!!). YOU want to complain about why this composer or this one or this other one is not featured in this video / recording / Tribute / Salute, that this one had an oscar, or two or three or a million and you don't understand why it's not featured. You don't understand why your favorite composer or your favorite movie or favorite tune is not in this Film Medley... From now, your comment will be erased. This "Salute to film composers" is available on other channels on youtube, there is even the original version made for the Oscars, so do youself and to me a favor, save my time (and yours) and go writing your negative comments elsewhere, Thank You." Many of the greats came over after fleeing Nazism. Korngold also wrote “serious” classical music for piano and orchestra but the movie studios paid most of the bills. Max Steiner was 9 years older than EWK and came to New York in 1914 working first on Broadway. Considered the father of film music he was also from Austria. His godfather was Richard Strauss and as a young man had private tutoring from Gustav Mahler. The “old timers” were a transition from the European classical tradition to American popular music for movies.

John was my gateway drug into film compositions. I remember the exact day I discovered he composed most of my favorite soundtracks and that's when I fell in love with movie scores. I'm 25 and I was like 10 or 11 when I discovered it. I have no experience in an orchestra other then playing a recorder in 4th grade but listening to his music and watching him talk about it definitely has taught me alot about it

Unfortunatly, This is the audience of the Boston Symphony Hall for the Boston Pops Orcthestra. Except some Williams fan in the audience eventually who succeded to have one of these very expense tickets, this is one of the worst audience in concert on the whole planet (It's not a joke, and it's, unfortunatly, a well know fact). The feeling that the audience give respect to williams music is unfortunaly not accurate, they don't care. Really... :( It's just a bunch of rich people from Boston, who spend their night here for a drink. Some of them doesn't even know who John Williams is and dont care about this music.

1/ John Williams is not the only one who worked on this. this arrangement / medley has been done in collaroration with Conrad Pope 2/ there is no official statement that Mr Williams is retired, and it's normal, because he's not ! he's still touring worldwide and give concerts, and didn't told "no" to steven spielberg in case steven would ask him to write a new movie score. he clearly told it in several interview (check the Stephen colbert interview for the release of the Fabelmans : Williams : "steven is someone i can't tell no". despite his actual healt issues which forced him to cancel all his concerts for 2024, i'm sure the strong man will come back in 2025 ! we all hope ! just for your information, usually musicians never retire.
