Although I am new to model restoration, I have history with full size vehicle body repair. A good job does require fiddling around a bit, taking patience. But the final result is worth it as you masterfully show. Thank you.

Very interesting video, very nice work. As far as the fan goes, when I used to paint in the garage I would tape a house air filter to the back of a box fan. You don't need that much air but they make small desk type box fans that you could put a disposable filter on. 👍👍

I think that the features moulded on the rear of the prime mover, are meant to be winch rollers. I have the orange coloured large version of this, and that's what they resemble. An excellent restoration of a really cool toy. Thank you!

Very nice, a handsome piece to say the most. Pretty sure it's for transporting heavy machinery or even locomotives or traction engines. The lowloader is definitely dedicated to some purpose as that. I need one for my layout, hopefully one turns up somewhere.

Marty, To save tape that is not sticky anymore, try putting the roll in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Typically, it will revive the stickiness and make the tape useable again. Great job on the restoration.

I can imagine that particular set wouldn't have been cheap in the 60s. That would be a big Christmas or Birthday gift. You have done another amazing job on what was a wreck. It's amazing that little truck can pull the huge trailer.

Good job. Might try using a small soldering iron instead of the torch. I find it more user friendly. Blasting anything that small and soft material will always remove some of those small details like grill. Love watching your videos each Sunday morning with my coffee. Have a good day Marty.

When this vehicle was boxed, the tractor sat on the trailer. If they put the tractor in front it would have been really long, and therefore the box would be too long. So when you see this in the original box the paint on the trailer will be chipped where the truck sat. This was caused by the truck moving back and fourth. Even though it moved just a tiny bit, it was enough to chip the paint. Great job as usual.
@125sloth4 жыл бұрын
Jesus William, you legend. What a great memory you have. You "reactivated" my brain. Yes, I now recall as a kid the chipped paint on the trailer after it was taken out of the box.
@timfaracy7544 жыл бұрын
It was also in a box set, the trailer was in a long bottom slot and the tractor in a separate slot above it. The set also had a construction shovel, a BP Tanker and a two piece Tractor-trailor.

Superb restoration. Great repair on the broken bogie. A bit of effort and a scrap looking model looks like new again. Got my own paint disaster. A #46 Mercedes 300SE. Paint went all "orange peel" finish. So back into the polystrippa again. Yet the DAF girder truck I did at the same time turned out fine: smooth and glossy paint.
