Oh snap son! Gateway was a key character in the late 80's, post fall of the mutants, X-men run, where they lived in Australia and had faked their deaths. Great story arc and great team line up during that time.

Really enjoying these videos. I read these back when they were released in the '90s and it was a blast seeing the art and hearing the stories after all these years. Just a tip: Synch is pronounced "sink", not "cinch". He can "sync" up with the powers of anyone within his power's radius, like when you plug in your iPod to "sync" up your playlists. Keep up the great work! Hope to see retrospectives of all the great crossover events from the past (Acts of Vengeance and Atlantis Attacks, please)!

You are easily my favorite youtube channel. I look forward to your videos every day. I'm so glad you are back to explaining groups and characters more often instead of just reading us comics. Now I've said this before but this video took it to a whole new level. Try to cut out some of the repeating phrases. When a 30 min video has "for the most part" said 50 some odd times it just sounds less polished and professional. . Obviously it's not a deal breaker and ill be watching every video you post the day you post it. It's just a little constructive criticism from someone who creates nothing and has no room to tell you how to do your job. Keep up the good work man. AOE is epic and I'm looking forward to taking this trip down memory lane with you. Also I was a bit disappointed you didn't mention the underrated movie that every one but me hates. I loved that thing.

Gateway is a character from the xmen when they were in Australia around the time when jubelee first showed up. They used him to teleport to different locations. Around the segious pearl time

goes to show how great Generation X; this video alone was literally based around issue no.1. that is not a complaint, that just show how amazing the storytelling Generation X had, the separate path Generation X took in the world of the 616 Xmen and the style. i still got my 2 no.1 issue copies. air sealed enclosed casing and plastic sleeve, reading copy. not really worth all that much atm... i mean, chambers design was off the chart. 23:19. Synched had some amazing art moments himself, when he gets possessed by emplate and goes on a rampage with snyching powers lol

Good video! I've been watching your videos every night for the past few days, lots of good stuff... but one thing I wanted to point out that doesn't really matter, towards the end you mentioned Monet becoming part of Storm's X-men team, and THEN House of M happening.. but actually, House of M happened many years before Monet was part of that X-men team... it doesn't matter though! Ugh... I love your stuff too... But how do you not know about Gateway?!? Outback X-Men!!! He started showing up when they were all thought to be dead and hiding in Australia. He introduced Jubilee to the X-Men. And yeah... It's "Sink", like what you do with a phone. And it makes sense because he synchs with others' powers. Btw, since you said you didn't know who Gateway is, Gateway is a longtime ally of the X-men serving as the team's teleporter. After the whole world saw the X-men "die" in Dallas battling a foe on a live TV broadcast, the team relocated to Australia. Gateway would use his bullroar to create wormholes & teleport the team instantly anywhere around the world. This happened shortly before fall of mutants & inferno during Marc Silvestri's run up untilX-tinction agenda. Led by Storm, The members on the team at that time were: Havok, Polaris, Longshot, Dazzler, Rogue, Colossus, Jubilee, Wolverine w/Gambit joining shortly thereafter

hey dood, quick bit of advice, M's last name is French, so the "roix" in Monet St. Croix takes on a sort of a rolling R sound with an ooo and then aaa, but with very minimal emphasis on the rolling R (so little that it is often dropped entirely. The more common pronunciation would be much more like "kwaa" or "qua" ... it's sort of like the correct pronunciation of "croissant" is closer to "kwa-saw" Keep up the awesome work!

Rob great job! It was a little odd to hear you say you didn't know who Gateway was. His 1st appearance was in Uncanny X-men #229. He's the indigenous Australian that was forced into service by the Reavers.

Gateway isn't really popular. He actually died in 2012. He was an honorary member of the X-men when they had to relocate to Australia and he was a slave to the reavers. He has decent powers, he is capable of opening up portals anywhere and he is capable of seeing things in different times and dimensions. He can also speak to telepaths using psionic communication. He was killed by Weapon 15.

A lot of success that Generation X received during this time had a lot to do with the surge in comic collecting. I don't think there was any other series that gauged the surge like GX. I remember buying something like five different versions of the phalanx books in order to collect all the different, hard cover versions of the same book (stupid me, I know) as did a lot of people. GX wasn't that great.
