I love Cypher. He's probably one of my favorite Marvel characters. He's literally like a younger version of Steve Rogers. 1. Has heart (Trying to help out as best as he can) 2. superawesomeboy they actually gave her personality in the 90s, plus her chemistry with Gambit was gold. She was a bit of an afterthought in the cartoons but at least they hadn't changed much about her. I can't stand modern Jubilee wokth the whole vampire thing, and while she's made appearances in almost every X-Men movie...they give her almost no role at all. Her powers have always been underrated and written off as a joke. She doesn't just make fireworks, that's just her name for them. They're literally mini explosions that she can make happen anywhere she pleases with varying intensities. Obviously she's not Omega level like Jean, or Iceman (if every mutant could evolve to Omega then it would be more difficult to write decent stories) but she's definitely deserves a higher rank. But that vampire shit is hot garbage

I always thought it was kinda weird or strange that in the comics. Civilians never accused people like hulk, spiderman, fantastic four, ghostrider, and other characters in the marvel universe as mutants, but they always knew who exactly was the mutants? Like was xmen characters intended to be set in a different or separate universe from other characters in marvel?

The first incarnation of X-Factor (with the Original Five X-Men) were officially Mutant "trackers" at one stage. J Jonah Jameson hired them to go after Spider-Man. By the end of the story they more or less refused, stating Spidey wasn't a Mutant but a Mutate IE altered human, and not in their purview. The origins of the FF etc are intentionally public knowledge. Mutants are born the way they are, which is also public knowledge. I'm not entirely sure 616 at large knows of Ghost Rider.

99% of the other heroes' origin is known to the public, since they're famous (like Fantastic Four, Avengers). The other 1% like Spider-Man, Hulk are feared and/or hated, even though Spidey has a friendly reputation in the neighborhood

With that being said, the X-Men really did become a universe within a universe, with so many spin-offs... Marvel began to put an X symbol in the top left corner of the books to mark them as being an X-Men spin-off, and would later do the same with Spider-Man etc

One of the BEST stories of Marvel Graphic Novel is "Emperor Doom" . It literally is one of the best reads containing a crap ton of characters and Namor, Doom and an item called the Pyscho Prysm. It's so dope! Just FYI.

The thing is that her magic capabilities outside of Limbo were traditionally much lower then Raven and Illyana hadn't even done too much training outside of Limbo and was inherantly human. I think now a days they would probably have a pretty epic and close fight if they both didn't hold back as Magik is now a demon with the original Illyana's soul and Raven is still the daughter of Trigon.

One of the big stories from the New Mutants and the first after Magik joined the team was the Demon Bear Saga. Danielle Moonstar had nightmares and described needing to fight a demonic bear the comics that entailed the New Mutants fight with the bear were done in a somewhat creepy drawn style with very jagged lines similar to that of the New Mutants logo, the film is an adaptation of that storyline except with new histories and a different location where it takes place.

IIRC, didn't they say that a large reason why Xavier took over the New Mutants was because of the Brood influence over him wanting to infect more powerful humans? That bit gets glossed over a lot. I thought the brood were really interesting. They were basically Aliens before the movie "Aliens."

He can also absorb heat and light to power up too, as shown in Avengers world #18? When he was blasted with a beam from the Scientist Supreme while powered down and absorbed it all to power back up again and win the fight.

You got 1 thing wrong. Dani Moonstars power was to psychically manifest someones deepest fear or hearts desire. She did not know what that would be until it manifested. I also would have liked it if you had gone a bit more into Magik/Darkchild powers, abilities and back story along with Warlock.

New Mutants under Claremont was great, but it took a nosedive in quality after he left and Simonsen took over. The characters became much dumber under Simonsen, which made the book much less enjoyable. On top of that, she didn't do her research and made huge mistakes because of that. She didn't go back and reread the Magik mini series and so she got the most important parts of a story she had been the editor for wrong. Simonsen thought that Illyana had killed Belasco - she even has Illyana state that she killed Belasco in one issue. Anyone who read the Magik mini knows that is the opposite of what happened. Illyana decided to spare Belasco because she realized that killing him in anger would destroy what little was left of her innocence, and so Belasco loomed as an ever-present threat. It was Belasco who sent S'ym to attack the mansion in the issue where she joined the New Mutants, and Claremont teased multiple times that there would be a final showdown between Illyana and Belasco, with the understanding that this would likely be where Illyana would die. Simonsen jettisoned all of that. Because she thought Illyana killed Belasco, under her pen Illyana forgot everything she learned in the Magik mini, especially the dangers of killing in anger, and did things that were completely out of character for her. Her arc was learning things she had already learned and which Simonsen would have known if she had bothered to reread the mini even once. On top of that, because of this mistaken belief that Belasco was dead when he was very much alive, a brand-new villain was created to take his place. N''Astirh is just a Belasco expy taking the place of the character he should have been. Because of this, the New Mutants portion of Inferno was terrible, with a focus on an Illyana who was acting very out of character, a large number of continuity errors, and no closure whatsoever because of the absence of Belasco. Claremont had practically gift-wrapped an amazing and tragic story, bookended by a pair of battles with Belasco, and Illyana and the readers were cheated out of an actual conclusion to her story because Simonsen forgot what happened in her origin and no editor caught her mistake. The Quest for Magik and Fall of the New Mutants stories finally corrected that mistake and finally gave Illyana the closure Inferno denied her.
