Some changes have happened to re-rolls, and the timing you have to pay for power, this is going to effect MODOK, The Wakandans, Shuri, Beast and The Guardians of the Galaxy!
Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a tabletop hobby miniatures game set in the Marvel Universe. In the game example provided this actually clears up how to stack re-rolls correctly and actually helped all the characters involved. Sure they may have spent less power but now it does seem more fair in that power has to be spent that may lead to not effect. Lord knows I've spent plenty of power for a 6 dice defense pool for Magneto that I didn't end up needing before. This just seems more fair in terms of power economy

I think the most confusing part about this rule change is that the crits explode afterwards in the next step after this modification..... I'm cool with the change, but let people fish for those crits rhen. Makes those rerolls more worth it if you are making this change :) This is just making the crit explosions just more confusing to new players

Well I'm just starting this hobby. Literally ordered core set and modok today. But this is already a nicely explained rule :) won't make any difference to me, didn't play my first game yet, but will make things easier when to declare powers for the reroll. Nice video :) keep them comming

Thanks for the clarification. And the demonstration was spot on. Interesting to see that this puts the ones seen as the highest in the meta are bringing down to earth.... Then there are the Guardians... But it seems to be more in lin with the 'Winging It' Idea for them - risky!

That could be big. there are those times where people pay to reroll, roll it, than pay for next one and so on. They can't do that. So maybe less MODOK in Wakanda, but I don't think it stops MODOK or Wakanda being top tier

WAKANDA FOREVER! ermm forever forgotten? 😂 Nah they are still damm good even with this change. It won't affect Guardians because no one used the Leadership and preferred the more important tactics cards. 😜

sorry, but on a different thing in the vid. Why is BPanther allowed to reroll a reroll? He uses Shuris 3 rerolls first and then his own to reroll a reroll? I thought that you could only reroll once (as MODOK did and still had power left to do so again?)

I am shocked it took this long to clarify this. I certainly am among those who played this wrong, apparently. It feels a bit overly complicated, especially for new players, since it wasn't really defined where it took place differently from other rerolls . So just to be clear, unless the ability says its during the modify step (9), it takes place on step 7, basically before crits explode? Is that it in brief? I am not liking that this is dig deep down in the forum threads. It's a pretty big change for many, and easily missed by newcomers. It needs a wider message for new players who don't know about the forums, and the forums are getting a bit crowded to easily uncover by casuals. Thx

I agree, and it was one of the reasons I bumped the video I was going to make today for this instead. Your summary is almost correct, other than if your attacking it occurs after step 6 and if your defending it occurs after step 7, so before crits for both players, and before your opponent has even rolled their defense dice for attackers

@@RichMidGaming got it, and defenders right after the attackers then. Ok. Sigh....I lament how this went down. They need to at least update the pdf of expanded rules on the website. There needs ro be a foundational explanation that isn't dug deep into forum posts, that nearly all players have no clue exists. So other rerolls, like Zemo's, all otherwise are after the explodes still? There needs to be an obvious distinguishing verbiage.

@@mitchcowan1446 the verbiage your looking for is “after rolling x dice”. I agree it would be nice to make this clearer in the rule book, but unfortunately staying up to date with the rulings forum is a required practice of several miniatures games. It would be nice to see that called out in the rule book too If it’s attack, it’s step 6 If it’s defence, it’s step 7 If it’s dodge, it’s step 2 of the dodge timing If it doesn’t have those words and just says something like you can reroll dice, that’s step 9

@@Thoras1 I think we need a sheet for all the situations fpr where rerolls occur now. Yes I play many games, but what bothers me is this is only clarified now a year and half after release and I don't know anyone online or in person who had gotten these distinctions. For what was a clean and easy to understand game this is a major setback, and having this nuance buried deep into a forum isn't good for new players. I have been around since day one, but Ive seen new players needing to go download the full rulebook to fully understand the game all along which isn't new. However this distinction is one that is very subtle and isn't even in the downloadable pdf (hopefully that will change). What I am still not clear about is what specifically seperates the requirement to do the reroll prior to crits exploding, and what does not. I looked at a few characters and just unsure. Many new characters and affiliations have rerolls, so do any have this reinterpretation? What about early ones like Spiderman core box? Etc etc lol

Kindve glad my enthusiasm for MCP is on the downturn...all the rules changes along with new powers/characters already can make what should be a fun quick game into a confusing dice rolling slog...thinking its time for AMG to do a 2nd edition and write a clearer rulebook.

So something that bothers me is that they say that this has always been the rule but I have proof that even dalas and will have been playing the way everyone else has been since the beginning. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5Sup5edhd5mp80 In the demo video at around 45:10 Will says "do your crit before the reroll" with Modek. So what gives? Obviously this is a post facto change for the rules intended for balance, but I wish they were up front saying that its a game change and NOT something we the player have been playing wrong the entire time.
