Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a tabletop hobby miniatures game set in the Marvel Universe. I agree with you on the packing, its ridiculous because it: 1. Takes up more shelf space for the retailer which is annoying for them. 2. Makes shipping a nightmare because this thing is so huge as a result. Please AMG, reduce your box sizes, this one is probably the worst offender. The kit REALLY wants you to buy 2, which is marketing genius, I just wish it was about 20 bucks cheaper.

Yeah, the packaging is a bit much, I'll agree on that. I still ordered the building as it looks nice and is suitably sturdy for the purpose. As far as the billboard goes: you can glue it in place upside down and leave it hanging on a side with the bricked up windows, and give it an add for DC Comics just for laughs 😁 I also bought the Sanctum Sanctorum alongside it, I'm thinking on adding the glass roof to it. The real crime of these buildings are the lack of interiors. I made an interior for the building that comes in the starter set. I am definitely not getting this kit due to the double sided walls. I am glad I watched the video before buying it.

While the billboard is not free-standing (shame), it certainly does not need to be glued on. It sits very nicely on the edge without any glue. The bracket that attaches to the roof edge is not unidirectional. I believe you had it facing the wrong way when you were trying it out. If you face the billboard away from the building, it sits very secure on the edge. Facing it inward as you did doesn't allow it to seat fully.

Rich the company who probably packages these will have set cube freight sizes and that will probably be the reason this and the sanctum is also so big. So it would probably cost the same to have a smaller package that was tight as it would the larger.

Also, most companies try to determine which boxing design would work for display and shipping of their product. Too snug of a fit can make the object too prone to breakage in shipping. I rather the extra cushion (even if it seems too much) to allow the product to ship with less chance of damage than a smaller footprint that would compress too much on the item and cause more chances for damage. All in all, good review of the building.

It is hefty, and it’s most definitely each to their own. The quality is amazing but I’ll be buying alternative buildings rather than a second one of these.

@@RichMidGaming I use the Dust 1947: Warzone Tenement's for buildings, they're a fair price for how big they are and pretty modular as well as giving access to interiors for some fun stuff like lighting and whatnot, might be worth checking out as the scale is pretty close.

Great video. Looking forward to many more. The half empty box is a bit of a joke. I was never going buy this at this price, MDF terrain is about £15-£20 no where near as nice but with the ease of access to 3d printers now a days this is a hard sell.

Having been to New York hundreds of times, I think that building really captures the essence of a building in the city. And the billboard is exactly what you'd see while traveling through the city. The only exception is they're all digital now. I fully agree about the packaging. But I think what they did with the storefront was a marketing ploy. You might buy a second one too have Josie's if you made the law firm and visa versa

Refreshingly honest. There's plenty of other options out there so this is an easy pass for me. Had there been some game content in there I might have looked at this differently. I do wonder if they might have had in mind to have 2 buildings in the box at some point, like the 2 lorries ;)

Sadly I had picked mine up before seeing this review, the store I got it from here in the States sold it for $65 (USD) the store owner took off 10% because the box had gotten beaten to hell and was water damaged. While I am enjoying building the kit, I agree with everyone else for the price point they could have had more in there.

This unit seems a lot smaller than the lvl 5 Sanctum Sanctorum, did you measure the standing height?

I realize this is pretty late, but could you glue the trim to the upper part instead of the bottom? That way you could disassemble it and change the front when you want?

If you're buying and making one building i agree with you but as a customizer thats 3 possibly 4 building using the card board filler.

You can never compare to the core box set, as its heavily discounted to get people in to the game. At the £55 I spent on it I think it's perfectly acceptable. You mentioned other Resign sculpts you can buy and they are cheaper but then I feel the quality is no where near the same level. I'm happy with it and I'm considering a 2nd one.

I am disappointed with the packing issues, although at least it's "only" cardboard and can be recycled. Think I'm definitely gonna get one of them, maybe two, not sure about that. Agree that they should have made the "shop front" changeable. Think the billboard size is OK, but yeah, I think it should be freestanding.

That’s true, but imagine the different in shipping costs - they could have fit twice as many units on the same pallet, that means we’ve paid twice as much for shipping!

The cardboard took up over 50% of the entire packaging, my annoyance isn’t with them putting cardboard in, it’s the fact that the box is twice the size it needs to be

Expensive models I can deal with, but not terrain. £70 could have a real negative effect on new comers to the hobby by doubling the cost after the initial core box just for basic terrain that, although not necessary, most people are going to want some form of terrain on their tables. Time to get the foam board out I think 🤔

Not sure if you're still looking for this, but mine's 7.25" x 5.5". The final length and width will vary based on which storefront you use, and where you place things like the electric meters (+0.25"), air conditioners (+0.5") and fire escapes (+1"). For height, the first floor comes in at about 3", the top floor at 2.75" and the middle floor at 2.25". Accessories can increase that by roughly 0.5" (skylight), 1.5" (stair access), 3" (water tower) or 3.5" (billboard).

I will say the other NYC terrain packs provide a lot more value for their cost. The garbage truck/chemical truck is very easy to turn into a garbage truck and just a chemical holding tank by itself. Pretty disappointed with this one, I was looking forward to it.

Aside from the price I just don't see the game value in this piece. One of the big game mechanics in MCP is throwing terrain. As it stands I think there's only one way to throw something this size and that's with both Hulks and a tactic card. There's far better value in buying a cheaper NYC set or Construction set, as you get much more to interact with. I know you could use the water tower etc as small seperate pieces but it's still less than the other sets. As I have the core box, NYC and Construction terrain, this one's a pass for me, I'd much rather spend £60-£70 on miniatures.

It's certainly not worth the cost, but not because of the size. Buildings create all sorts of complex situations that could help or hamper you in a game. Line of site, slower movement unless you can fly or wallcrawl, cover. Also makes the board more interesting and fun than a bare board that doesn't convey (for those wishing) an actual city setting. There's better product out and coming soon, so this is an unfortunate pass for me.

i do believe the extra packaging serves 2 purposes. you are correct im sure in its to fool us into thinking were getting more. But I think its also for shipping. when stocking boxes on top of each other it helps.
