The Eternals was definitely not my favorite movie from the MCU. I felt lost in the movie and the characters. That being said, I thought Ikaris truly shined in the movie, brilliantly portrayed by Richard Madden. His conflict was truly interesting and I wish It would have been pushed further in the movie.

In my eyes, Ikaris is the most complex character in the movie: the line he toes between duty and love was beautifully written, and in the end, he chose love; he chose his family yet he couldn't reconcile within himself the feeling he'd like not only let Arishem down but also the people he cared about it.

I know this movie has been pretty divisive, but I personally enjoyed it and loved Ikarus' struggle between his duty, his family, and his love. He didn't want to betray or hurt them, but he was doing what he was ordered to do by Arishem. And I think his ending was extremely poetic. Thank you for this edit. It's beautiful.

@@blackpanther6885 Nah, I think Sersie should stick with Dane, he won't be as complicated a character for her after all the stuff that happened, and it may help to move on from each other in Ikaris and Sersie's case. Perhaps Ikaris can't find someone else or simply stand alone as a Warrior with his duty. Might make for a better story, won't be so cliché like it would be if they got together

In the comics sersi and makkari are the one together but they gender changed makkari and given the love story part between makkari and sersi to ikairs and sersi and in the comics sersi and makkari are the one ended up together. And dane has so many girlfriend in the comics one is crystal (inhumans) and faiza hussain (weilder of the famous sword excalibur) and she is going to introduce in the up coming blade movie and dane is going to be in the blade movie as well. So there is clearly a story arc building up for them and they play with sersi and dane for two to three projects but they will eventually break up and will go separate ways.

Ikaris and Druig are the most misunderstood characters in the movie, both of them just want best for everyone but Ikaris chose Duty to his makers and Druig chose love for Humanity and even with this parallel and rivalry between, the are more closer and similar, two sides of the same coin. I think Ikaris chose to sacrifice everything, his love, his mother (like figure), his home and the people in it and his family ( rest of the Eternals) for a higher purpose and at the end the man did not have the resolve to see it to it's end and chose love over Duty. First time i watched the movie, it didn't grow on me, but i still loved and prefered Druig over everyone else but watching it again multiple times made me realise how much of a hero Ikaris was, from a human's pov he might be a villain, but if you look at the greater good, he is not, he sacrificed everything, at the end, even his life.

Ikaris is honestly the good guy here. The emergence was required in order to create many other planets. Stopping the emergence just cause billions of people to not get a chance at life. Planets don't live forever and I believe that the fall of earth would be worth it.

In the movie, when Sersi manage to speak to Arishem, Arishem explain to her that their memories are stored in the World Forge.

I'm so glad Richard Madden is getting all this love because he absolutely deserves it. Eternals doesn't deserve the amount of hate it recieved; sure, it's not everyone's cup of tea and it's not the perfect Marvel movie but damn it was a good film and had one amazingly diverse cast. Ikaris was such a complex character and Richard was brilliant at portraying that. I loved that they showed his struggle, whilst his ending was in a way poetic; I hope we do see him again... somehow. He's a great addition to the Marvel Universe. Plus "I wouldn't mind leaving this word, I just wish that when we do, I would be able to remember you." Man... that's one hell of a quote. Agree with every single point! Richard Madden is an amazing actor and I really felt his struggle as Ikaris. Idc how divisive this film is, I love it and it's one of my favorites in the MCU. Besides, we could say it's not everyone's cup of tea about every movie out there. He showed Ikaris's inner conflict perfectly and yes, I so hope we can somehow see him again!! I think he's one of the best antagonists in the MCU in terms of complexity. And I'm so glad that one line seemed to resonate with others. I never see mention of it anywhere and I've always thought it was a profoundly heartbreaking line that spoke so much of his enduring love for Sersi.

I love that this film doesn't really have a real evil villain too. Everyone is fighting for something inherently not evil and in some ways, relatable in nature. Celestials just want to Reproduce. I can well understand, and sympathise with, why Ikaris betrayed the Eternals and tried to make sure that the Emergence happened. For thousands of years Ajax told him that's what his purpose was, it was as said in the video why he couldn't stay with Sersi even though he loved her as he would have eventually told her the truth and that would have broken her heart so he spared her the pain - and sacrificed his own happiness - of it by leaving her. From his perspective he sacrificed everything to fulfil his purpose as Ajax wanted - only for at the end Ajax to change her mind and suddenly want to stop it all. Thus its understandable why he did what he did.

I just realized, he left Sersi after Babaylon(it think it was), so he left after Ajak told him the truth of their mission. He couldn’t be with Sersi knowing the truth would hurt her bc he knew how much she loves humanity. Regardless of what did, he did LOVE SERSI❤️

Ikaris was undoubtedly the stand out in this movie. I actually enjoyed Marvels approach to this movie and character specifically. We first see him treated like a god. He was a protector and people worshipped him. Ikaris is a warrior and as time past humans no longer needed his gifts/power and he lost that part of his identity. His new purpose discovered when Ajax informed him of the greater mission. He was now lost in the world and so he put all of his faith in Arshiem.

I want to love this film more than I actually do, and I do like this film probably more than most, or more than it deserves, but I truly hope that Marvel is able to make this story make sense in the larger MCU, because the concepts here are really interesting and compelling to me. I love the idea of a retelling of Angels and Demons, or intelligent design, and alien seeding. This films concepts are actually about the beginning and the end of the the MCU; Arishem details this.

Then when the fighting is over, your encouraged to find love, but also reminded of the unpreventable doom. u sacrifice your love and what u could have, but all of it was wasted when your own leader/ friends made your sacrifice a waste. Honestly Ikaris was my favorite character!! I think he gets too much hate! People literally hate him for the same reason they love Loki! I just love the idea that he was just trying to do his duty, do what he felt right because it’s literally what he(and the rest of the Eternals) was made for. If you think about it he’s technically the only TRUE eternal because he was actually trying to do what he was sent to earth to do and the rest of them are the traitors by going against the celestials and stopping the emergence. and for the Biblical people out there, he’s no different than Abraham when God sent him to sacrifice Isaac and Abraham was going to obey. Ikaris is definitely the most complex character in this movie, just like how Loki has been so complex since the first Thor movie. There are just so many layers to him and I hope we see more of him!

Also it’s very clear he didn’t want to kill Ajak. He was very clearly filled with guilt after her death! I’m not trying to 100% excuse him from that. But people are letting that be the main reason to hate him and not forgive him. He just felt he needed to so she wouldn’t stop what they were meant to do and it helped him distract the others for a while. But if he is still alive I’m sure the writers will focus on this and where he goes from there!

For me ajak is the real antagonist (villian) of the movie she used ikaris like a puppet he did what ever she said 1. ajak rather than telling secret of their mission to everybody but she only told ikaris which killied him inside. 2. He lied to all the eternals because ajak don't want other eternals to know about their true purpose of their mission. 3. Ikaris left serise because he couldn't live the guilt of lieing to her about their mission and don't want to broke her heart by telling the truth and don't want to betray ajak by telling the truth. 4. Ajak always told ikaris to be loyal to the celestials because of that he made himself disconnected with the humans. 5.when ajak wants to betray the celestials ikaris couldn't stant on her side because he did everything she said he sacrificed his love for the fellow eternals. That really pissed him of to the extension to kill her and turn against his family. And ajak accept before she died that it was her fault that ikaris goes down this path. For me ajak is the trigger point.

This whole movie is about celebrating life, being able to live it, enjoy it. Living 7000 years means nothing if you can’t get to treasure and keep the memories you made. Ikaris’s line to Sersi about wanting to keep the memories of them together is so important and summarizes these characters really well.

Ikaris was really the more complex and interesting with background and depth. As much as I have problem with this film, you truly succeeded in embellishing it. Made me reconsider my opinion on it. This is truly such a greatly not only edited video but storytelling. You used the quotes to your advantage, putting them on scene that give them meaning. Even the realtionship between Sersi and Ikaris feels more real and honest than their chemistry on screen. It felt so emotional to see Ikaris go in this, contrary to when I saw it in the cinema. This was truly an accomplishment in every category, thank you so much for editing it ! It was perfect on every aspect, shoutout to the sound (one of the clearest ever) !

Thank you for the video. I did really love his character in the end. I loved almost all of them. Sprite is probably the only character I have yet to come around on. I wished the movie had been a series instead. There was too much there to cover in one movie. The jumping back and forth between times didn't do them any favours. I really felt for Ikaris in that last moment when Sersi held his face, he looked at her smiled, then his smile faded away. Because he couldn't live with himself either way. He had betrayed his duty by not killing Sersi, betrayed his family by killing Ajak, betrayed his love by lying to her all this time. I loved the symbolism of each character, even Sprite. I do wished this movie could have had more time. The tone was too much a drama for a Marvel film but I did love it none the less.

This movie was honestly pretty decent. It was messy, with a lot of characters, but some of the characters were done pretty well, like Ikaris, Kingo, Gilgamesh, and Thena. Also, I just like the mythology, with the celestials and how it's pretty stand-alone. It's sorta like Black Widow, where I think they did some stuff really well and some things were very disorganized.

@@devinmayhew2872 it was, it's not like other MCU films, the only problems some people have with it is 2hr and 10 characters, not enough screentime, constant time skip, underwhelming deviant Kro, and most other MCU films don't have this much interactions between characters. It isn't regular MCU format where you would probably expect large generic army and constant jokes mid fight, which negates stakes and tension, it didn't have a true villain. The CGI, SFX and VFX was beautiful, characters like Ikaris was good, it had some funny moments. But everyone has their own opinion

I have never seen this movie which I think is a blessing. As it really opens my eyes to the edit as opposed to having a preconceived thoughts if I had known the story line already. In the comics, Ikaris is my favorite Eternal. He defended earth and was our champion. Him being the antagonist in the movie threw me off. It saddened me that I gained him and lost him in the same movie. Usually I don't mind changes to the characters, but the mcu changed his core. Richard Madden was amazing but he's a different Ikaris from the one I fell in love with in the comics.

This movie is indeed pretty dense and it's easy to miss a lot of details the first time around. For me a rewatch definitely helps when I don't have to worry about the plot and can just enjoy the acting, visuals and also catch all the missed details. Btw, great editing. Ikaris wasn't my favourite, but I can definitely relate to his struggle, character , and the choices he made regardless whether I agree with all of them.
