The original x-men team was angel, beast, Cyclops, iceman and marvel girl AKA jean grey. Beast has yet to be released in this game, at least to my knowledge. Don't know why they seem to have forgotten about him, especially since he's one of the more iconic characters. And it would be interesting to see how his deck plays.

I'm glad to hear that the difficulty has been ramped up. I found the original game didn't really work well as a co-op game; as Tom said I think in the dozen or so plays I'd had we only lost once or twice, and some of the characters (Deadpool) aren't really set up for co-op play. For competitive play things worked ok, but it seemed to clash with the theme and ended up feeling unrefined, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the expansion effects the fit & finish.

Tom, I'll see you outside the saloon at high noon for that Ghost Rider remark! "He's got flames coming out of his head, whoopy doo" Why, I oughta... Actually, that was unexpected and pretty funny. Even as a public figure in gaming, I'm glad you voice your opinion bluntly; the last thing we need in the world is more oversensitivity and the resulting political correctness. But Ghost Rider has a lot more to him than that. He's uber cool for obvious reasons -- visually he's the epitome of badass -- but also the stories take you places that the typical superhero comics don't go. I know demon themes aren't your favorite, but he's a pretty complex character, and a lot of fun at Halloween parties -- pick up some comics is the discount box and give him a second look!

Nice video Tom. I was kind of put off by this game when I found out that you don't play as 1 hero. I was looking for Sentinels of the Multiverse with a Marvel theme.

Can you play all of these expansions together? Like can you just have all the cards packed on in one big box and you don't have to worry about whether or not you are dealing in Secret Wars or Civil War, Dark City, etc?

I own every single expansion and the answer is absolutely yes! Just make sure you hang onto the rule books that each expansion comes with.

Love Dark City; works its way into your existing game seamlessly and expands your roster of heroes and villains without depleting the value of the original set via power creep. Pretty heavy on mutants for my taste, but the Marvel Knights more than make up for it for me.

Looking forward to the next expansion and picking up Dark City. Legendary has been a great game for me and friends to play, even those who don't read comics. Will say we did lose real quick the other day w/ the Skrull invasion and some bad shuffling. I'm curious if the next set will bring in She-Hulk, Ant-Man, and other characters who've been linked to the FF. I heard Galactus is pretty rough.

Why do they keep these fonts on the cards so small. They have over 80% of the white space on the bottom still same font. They also leave some transparent white with small text and not using full margins. They have decades of art I like to associate picture to remember images to text maybe that would help. Also just make Villain cards different color on back or face border, I have to sleeve just to help setup. We all have to bunch up or pick up cards to read them because pictures are same.

Iron Fist is insanely popular now, Tom, ever since Brubaker and Fraction's run on Immortal Iron Fist. A solid character usually seen in the Marvel Knights stuff, and a must have if you're going to have Luke Cage around. I love this expansion just because of the new Masterminds. Stryfe's kind of lame, but the rest of them are fantastic villains that really fit the theme of the expansion.

Played twice on our boardgame night. Apocalypse kicked us in the junk twice. We thought we had him by taking out Pestilence...but negative Ghostrider the pattern is full. We ran away weeping and licking our wounds. Then played Elder Sign with the new expansion to lift our spirits....got kicked in the junk there too. I loved it, twas great fun!!!!

just got the core and dark city as well as the GotG small box can i play these expansions seperately from the original core set or do i kinda need to thrown them all together in order to play? also is paint the town red+secret wars+encounter worth getting?

+Kongphon Nitikijphaiboon Any expansions is worth getting IMHO, for me there is no weak ones so far. As for Encounter it is a separate game and I personally think it is cool but I prefer to focus on Marvel Legendary.

is black widow still extremely op in this game too? i mean in the base game i took out loki in one attack. yea...i rescue like 14 people by getting rid of all my own wounds and crappy cards and 14x3 damage per turn. and it will just keep increasing as i rescue more and more bystanders. and i will probably end up winning the game with my bystander victory points. bam loki went down from 4 master mind cards to nothing.... i only bought cards that let me rescue bystanders by ko a card. and 3 more cards that adds damage based on the number of bystanders cards in my pile. so i have like 7-10 cards in my deck and i keep drawing them to massively accumulate my bystanders. i am guessing apocalypse would need one more turn for me to take him out? not a problem... right? i never knew black widow can enhance her boobs by rescuing bystanders to a point where she could beat loki in one shot. i tried spiderman, didn't like it. i tried thor, didn't like it. i tried captain, didn't like it. i tried hulk, didn't like it. i tried rogue, she is okay though. she can get extremely powerful.

Awesome game and great expansion. The new masterminds are definitely tougher but still beatable (in fact we beat the new ones every time so far). I think I'll add +1 power to all the old masterminds in fact to even them up a bit to the new ones. Also Tom said all the original Xmen were in the game but Beast isn't yet.

yes, these expansions are for direct merge with the base game, however some of the new Masterminds or Schemes in the expansion are easier with the heros/teams included in that expansion.

For people claiming the game is too easy, you are supposed to randomize mastermind, scheme, heroes and villians. Sometimes your heroes lack synergy and the mastermind is ridiculous with a certain scheme and webget our ass handed to us. I have noticed if we get none of the deck thinning henchmen or brotherhood (for juggernaut thinning) and jone our heroes ko cards we tend to lose hard since we can never deck thin.

Tom....... every hero in these sets shouldn't be a 'popular' one. It's not strange that Ironfist is in the set, It's a good thing. Otherwise you would have 52 versions of that angry little furball Wolverine.

This game does not have any "money" "fighting" or "computer chip style" in it. It does have recruit, attack and tech heroes.

The reason there is another Wolverine, is because he is technically 2 people when he loses his memory. James Abet --> Logan ---> Wolverine. Wouldn't be surprised for another set

Not many times, but yes, we've lost. Some of the original schemes can be nasty, and we always randomize the heroes instead of matching them up based on the mastermind/scheme selection.

Oh, and stryfe isn't that hard. I think he classifies as the new easiest mastermind (though I haven't played kingpin yet).

Say Nightcrawlers teleport ability...isn't it extremely overpowered?? i mean you just teleport all his cards and next turn you would have like...4 extra cards in your hand or something...am i the only one who thinks this is extremely OP??

like getting rid of a wound in the base game, you can only use the "teleport" ability if you do nothing else in that turn.

Glad to hear that they made the game tougher, but it sounds like they did not fix what I still thought was the worst part about the base game: no tough choices to make. I just traded away my base game, and have no regrets. Very disappointed in what could have been a great game.
