Some people pose their figures in action not just in vanilla so the pins will definitely show especially if you’re taking photos you want it to look as seamless as possible. Which is also one of the reasons why cloth on figures are liked because it looks even more seamless when you articulate them even though it could be more hindered. Hasbro figures mostly aren’t made with maxim range anyway so it’s about the same regarding that.

Hey Anthony, great honest review as always. If it's alright, can you explain why pinless joints would wear out faster than pinned joints? Though pinned or pinless does not really bother me that much, I would still personally prefer pinless because it is aesthetically pleasing (especially if the figure has multi colored limbs like Spider-man), and makes the joints more firm especially on the knee area. In my observation of my pinless figures, they don't tend to become bow legged compared to pinned figures especially female figures. Thanks!

I'll do a video on it eventually. The reason the pinned figures get wobbly is have uses flexible pvc. It either needs to be hard pvc or color matched hard plastic... Preferably nylon or pom

@AnthonysCustoms3 ай бұрын
The pins have nothing to do with the "gummy" joints. That comes down to the plastic used for the joint. Pinless joints (the way hasbro does them) wear out because they are insert molded. That's no force from the sides. The only thing retaining the joint is notches on the edge of the disc which is hard plastic. When that hard plastic wears away the softer pvc, the joint is useless. That's also why the joints are usually stuck initially. With pinned joints, you can make the notches as small as you want and apply force from the sides. Maybe instead of saying I'm just complaining because you don't know something, consider that I do know someone. I've disassemble and worked on hundreds of figures, reviewed thousands, and designed my own line. I have first hand knowledge about how various joints work and which plastics are best for different applications. Can you tell me the benefits of nylon over pom? Or the best type of nylon to use for joints? Do you know the difference between nylon 6 and nylon 66? Which would be better for joints?

I don't mind pins so long as they're non-intrusive. The pins on the MVC2 Cable bother me enough because Hasbro couldn't be bothered to go all the way. The pins on Darwin are too big and hollow, while the pins on the Diamond Select Cap are small and flushed. You may be right that they're hardly noticeable looking from the front, but in many displays/photos, poses take on different angles. It's kind of like the double ball peg vs disk hinge for the neck POA argument. One is superior (pinless), but it's just that companies can't be bothered to implement them correctly, so the alternative looks more appealing.

I admittedly haven't been paying attention. Because... It's already sold out everywhere. I know that volume of plastic pumped through the molds are the profit margin. So how the fuck are all these companies doing basic figures as limited releases??!!?? Aren't they leaving BIG money on the table. Figures going to clearance hurts the retailer. You would think the manufacturer would be flooding the zone with as many as possible. Honestly, I'm looking at Todd while typing this, but even hasbro is under-producing at this point.
