The tentacle defects were shocking! 😮 How could they have been thinking about this for so long and blow the materials and the connections? Aunt May was obviously a piece of junk from the first reveal, but botching Ock’s defining attribute is a shocking fail even though the buck is interesting. I thought about getting this as my comic/animated Ock, but I’ll wait for the eventual price drop before even considering it. This is insulting.🤨 WTH, Hasbro? Get your head in the game

Although some other reviewers I’ve seen have said heating/boiling gets the tentacles to fully seat past a second “pop” that keeps them in place and working better than Anthony’s review 2 - After a year of overstock, Hasbro will release them to fan channels, who might offer sales. The paint on Doc Ock reminds me of how a lot of toys were painted when I was a kid. I have a very strong emotional and nostalgic attachment towards this version of Doc Ock. The Aunt May is whatever, but this Doc Ock is my mind’s eye of the character. He could use just a touch of paint in the sculpted lines, but it’s still a really nice look. Getting mine in the mail soon.

QotD: I actually do want a figure of Aunt May. But I also would like it to be, ya know, good. It's so baffling to me how this line started off so strong with Venom, but every subsequent release has only gotten worse. At this point I'm really hoping that any other company grabs the Spider-Man TAS license to make figures out of. Even if, say, Diamond Select did, I'd happily make it the only 7-inch line outside of Spawn that I collect. Spider-Man TAS is such an important show for so many reasons and it deserves way better than this garbage.

Love the honesty! I still watch Legends reviews, but am so glad I have pretty much stopped buying unless $7 clearance. Sometimes they are not worth that. Keep up with obvious and honest reviews. Hard to find someone who does not mind stating the truth.

I am hoping I am around to watch them fall. I collected sports cards for a bit, and now Panini has the same crap QC and overproduction that Hasbro has. Unfortunate, but I don't spend my money on crap. So I save a bit.

I saw someone in a Marvel Legends Facebook group say that you were ridiculous in saying that this doc ock can’t stand on the tentacles, and posted a picture of him doing just that. I was so tempted to say to him “yeah, what you’re not telling us is how many times you tried to get him to stand and how many times he inevitably fell over in doing so.” Just because there’s a slight chance that a figure can achieve a certain pose, doesn’t mean it always will. There’s a thing called quality control, which is different in experience from person to person. It’s the classic argument “well mine stands, so that means you’re wrong.” no that just means that you happened to get lucky or were desperate enough to prove a point that it “can stand” according to you, and potentially you alone. It’s amazing how controversial Hasbro is as a company, and how controversial their fan base is as a result.

The tentacles can support him if you get him in a specific pose. Seen another KZbinr (Dan who reviews. At 13 minutes in) do it and I’ve got it displayed that way. They just have to be set a little wide.

Bro I completely agree with you on the horrible sculpting. We have EVERY right to be angry and negative, considering what we pay for these figs. It's 2023 and there is simply no excuse for laziness. The detail that companies like McFarlane toys have been putting out for over 20 years, and they started as a small company. Hasbro IS the biggest toy company next to Mattel so for them to put out hot garbage is ridiculous. I happen to collect WWE figures from Mattel, and 98% of the time they put out awesome figs EVERY time.

In defense of Aunt May, I'm probably the only person on Earth that wanted this one over Doc Ock. 2 reasons: a. I'm glad Hasbro got around to making a 1:12 scale version of the old ToyBiz 12 in figure. b. Maybe with the overlays removed you've got a decent base for a custom Golden Oldie. Think about how great she'd look next to Galactus! We need more heralds anyway!

I'm having a lot of fucking trouble with these shit arms. I can't peg all four of em into the old octopus figures like they said you'd be able to. The plastic on the old octopus is too rigid. Even if you heat it up, the pegs are too soft and too large that they quickly absorb heat from the heated octopus figure and become even softer.

I genuinely don’t understand the people who defend & continue to buy marvel legends, I’m guessing they’re either shills getting free stuff from hasbro or they quite literally ONLY collect Marvel legends so anything vaguely resembling something new or an incremental improvement (and that’s being generous) from hasbro gets treated like a gift from god & massive step up. All facts by Anthony. Again, some of these reviewers are just happy to have a "representative" in the collection even if it looks bad. They say these figures are great when in fact they are horrible. For the price, I personally don't think marvel legends are worth the plastic they represent. The last marvel legends I bought was ulik from walmart for $10. I have the sdcc boxset but why not upgrade a decent, not great, figure for a ten dollar bill? Hasbro makes too much money for people to keep letting them get away with making BS.

Doc Ock has some things that could be fixed up like gluing in the tentacles so they don't rotate or using a Gundam marker for the panel lines (Nothing that can be done for those thigh panels sadly) so for that alone, he's better than Aunt May, who's just a redo of the Peggy Carter in that WWII Cap two pack. Still even though I like modding my figures, not everyone does, these guys should come as close to perfect as they can stock, barring QC issues of course. Why couldn't Hasbro do the panel lining? Square pegs for the tentacles? I don't even care for this character design much and even I would be bowled over if they showed they cared at Hasbro. The ineptitude feels almost on purpose at this point

My comic Doc Ock peg hole got stripped from rotating the tentacles and now they won’t hold in place. I guess you shouldn’t play with your action figures 😢

I remember seeing the preorder for this and the biggest sell factor was Doc Ock with long bendable tentacles as displayed in the pictures. Seeing them as limp noodles with baby claws is disappointing to me and I think those are the longest Doc Ock tentacles on a figure to date. It might be ok on a shelf but I pick my figures based on how well I can use them for stop motion animation therefore possibility and holding said pose is a must. Great Review, I wish this Doc Ock was a single release or with a Spiderman. Personally I want Marvel to move on to the Spiderman no way home Doc Ock, I'm kinda done with bright green plastic-- let's hope for the best.

I mostly just wanted swole doc ock and actually didn't mind getting an Aunt May. I was kinda looking forward to it. But then I saw Aunt May and straight up wondered why they gave the best Willem Dafoe headsculpt to Aunt May. I had no expectations for her figure and was still disappointed. The Doc Ock was disappointing too. The big draw was the bendy tentacles and they blew it.

With the cost of these figures, I think heavier criticism is appropriate. If I pay $50 for a filet, I don’t want 50% of it to be some other tough poorly cooked cut of beef that was thrown on the plate. I’ve certainly cut back on my Hasbro purchases, particularly marvel, in recent years because I feel like I’m ordering a filet and getting a small chunk of good meat with the rest being filler McDonald burgers.

Doc Ocs tentacles are too heavy to be supported by the joint - Makes it awkward to pose and they'll keep moving over time. They REALLY should have locked in place better. Added a tiiiiiny tiiiny bit of superglue just to keep them in place and it makes a whole world of difference.

Question of the Day #1: Very much wanted the animated series Doc Ock. Now all I’m hoping for is him in that white suit with this head. Question of the Day #2: I am happy we got an Aunt May, but yeah.. Probably wouldn’t have bought her separately if they gave us the choice. Pretty disappointed they can’t even move her legs, why not actually put the effort into utilizing all the articulation the figure has? Extremely disappointed those tentacles can’t support Ock after all. I could’ve swore that was some kind of selling point in the promotional stuff (besides that sweet, sweet nostalgia)

The way they butchered the poseable tentacles is *shocking.* They're the *main* reason a lot of people want this 2-pack! Not accounting for the weight of the arms when designing how they plug into the back is an amateur mistake, and the stiff plastic is so weird when the Sentinel's tentacles were fine in that regard. You mentioned it feeling like the person who cuts up the sculpt is not the sculptor, but here it feels like the different designers aren't even sharing their work with each other. Was there some office beef over at Hasbro? A bad breakup? Someone ate someone else's lunch?

I'll echo a Twitter comment I made, which is: with how good the Jada Street Fighter line looks, I need that company to get the rights to MvC and show us just how good retail Marvel heroes can be. there are some lego or fake Chinese lego doc ock joints can replace the metal arms and fix this figure... the the arms are built by combining small pieces that are a ball with a plate, so the entire thing is very articulated, maybe TOO articulated.

Hey disregard, I found out what I was doing wrong with the tentacles. I wasn't pushing them in far enough and lining up the grooves. The tentacles stay in any pose I put them in and I got them to support the figure's weight for a couple of seconds, lol.

Superglue could fix the tentacle droop, but why should we need to? Ock's torso sculpt looks weird. Nowt like the box art. I hadn't noticed how they failed to line up the lines on his legs with the thigh swivel. Mind boggling. I uave one or two figs where the arms and legs are made from such a soft plastic that the joins failed/sheared off. Terrible!

This was my most anticipated release from them and I am so upset by what came.. I looked past the aunt May be ause I genuinely thought this doc ock would be great but the first thing I noticed is there were 2 open and 2 closed tentacle claws which is whack.. after seeing this review I'm really just bummed.. looking at the tentacles and his head joint.. good God.. I really hope the tentacles at least do better with the comic book ock.. man what a terrible company.. I'm sure I'll at least be able to make him look alright in my display..

9:51 That is absolutely pathetic. It might as well be sculpted onto the neck rather than making it a joint. But what’s even sadder is seeing people defend Hasbro and these crappy figures. Ik I said this before but I genuinely think the people hard defending these either never owned anything outside of a Hasbro product or just have low standards outside of it looking somewhat like the character. And for the main complaint that imports cost too much, for as much as you spend on an entire wave of Marvel Legends (a wave of ML equals basically a SH Figarts or even a Mafex), it wouldn’t hurt to buy an import figure. Sure you pay more for one figure but I’d rather pay more for one really good figure than more for a bunch of mid-trash figures.

I was really on the fence about buying this figure. After seeing your review of this 2 pack I have decided not to buy it. Doc Oct looks great but the lack of articulation, the price considering I don't even want the Aunt May figure, and poor design of the tentacles is enough for me to skip these figures. Doc Oct can't raise his arms above his head, the tentacles can't support themselves, and Aunt May is bland lacking articulation. It really does seem like the Marvel Legends team threw this together without a actual thought of what would the fans like, and instead thought of what is the cheapest way to produce these figures and get the most profit.

When this figure was announced at the live stream, the guys said that his tentacles could be used in the old Doc Ock, but yesterday I saw on Reddit someone saying that the pegs are to big to fit that figure, you would have to modifie it to fit. There are some figures that looks like hasbro just do every aspect of it suck on purpose, it's nonsense.
