Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star Lord and Rocket with Groot Hasbro

Oh man, Gamora and Nebula are a hard act to follow in Hasbro's Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wave 2. The rest are good, but they don't compare. Rocket is a massive improvement over the original release but poor Star-Lord just gets a long coat and scarf. If it hadn't been for the Mantis piece I would have passed.

Hasbro has been doing the dot printing on some of the 3.75" Star Wars figures for a few years now. Interesting they're going it on marvel legends now. This Rocket is definitely a step up.

MY 2 CENTS They definitely aren't! You can identify the production batch of figures by their particular paint defects, so are you telling me that the factory workers deliberately make different but consistent screw ups on each batch?

The factories use paint masks to paint the figures on assembly lines. If the masks are not perfectly seated onto the figure's features, the paint apps can come out with defects or running paint. Again, someone lied to you.

my examples are Kylo Ren, Cassian and Jyn, Obi Wan... My mistake, not hand painted but at least factory painted but clearly not printed on, it is absolutely clear by the texture on the color, the differences from figure to figure and the uneven and splotchy beards/eyebrows and the slight rising of the eye paint to the eyemolding and the clearest one, Peter here looks like a person, many star wars unmasked characters look like just toys

Yeah I noticed that too with the pixelated facial details. Really fixes their problem they had for so long with sloppy eye paint, it looks great. I know Play Arts does the printed facial details on their figures too (and has been for many years now) and It has always looked spectacular, super happy to see Hasbro using it for the Legends line now as well and hoping they both continue to do so, and also start using it for their Star Wars Black Series 6 inch lien as well, because that line NEEDS help in its face paint department.

Great group shots @13:48 & 14:25 especially the B&W 😎 With all these Star Lords coming out, I wish one release included a pair of swappable long sleeved shirt arms for a more casual look. I like the short jacket look better, but they just had to give this figure's shirt the more accurate grey color. Damn you, Hasbro!

Great review Robo! Hasbro is stepping up their game in all their top tier lines it seems! Transformers Movie, Marvel Legends, Spider-Man Homecoming Legends, GOTG-V.2, Star Wars Black Series 40th it's getting really alot easier to depend on rhem all a sudden. I didnt see his mask is that only in the first release of volume 2? Also I love the "Fwooshly" poster at rhe end ;)

This Starlord will make a good Grifter custom. I really hate these movie Rockets. The comic version (EE exclusive and BAF) looks so much better, imo. And what I don't get is how they can make 3.75" figures with ankle pivot, but not give it to Rocket. Maybe Hasbro isn't doing it anymore, but I have a Marvel Universe Captain America with a full-on ankle pivot that works great. Seems a shame to leave it out when they have the capability.

I have to be honest, I've seen lots of people complain about this Star-Lord figure, but I like both the paint and the longer coat much more. I haven't picked up the wave one figure, and I don't intend to, provided the Ego two-pack includes his helmet and the better head sculpt. Is there any word about what's actually included in that pack yet?

Hey! Which Rocket do you prefer out of this one and the Comics Version (the one that you had to fix the reverse knee on)? Both seem to have good articulation, but that aside, which do you find as the better of the two?

I think the Select is the better action figure, it kicks all kinds of ass in the articulation department. That's why I have a comic display and a movie display for GotG, I need both up, haha.

Hey Robo, yeah I compared the baby Groot with the toysrus baby Groot and they are completely different colors. I am really loving Rocket but I think they could have done more for head articulation. Not looking forward to this Starlord. Wish baby Groot had some arm articulation.

Which Star-Lord head-sculpt would you say looks more like Chris Pratt? Both are obviously off, but the short-jacket version's smirk seems better done than the long-jacket version. The hair on the Wave 2 looks better than Wave 1's, IMO. I don't know why they couldn't make him look more like Chris Pratt. He looks like the Telltale Games version of Star-Lord.

Guernicaman I have both series 1 and 2...series 1 looks good because he is straight faced and it looks good standing there...but his beard is wrong...series 2 has a smirk and his eyes are not as detailed....but his facial hair is correct... so honestly I like them both for different reasons

That Rocket just looks...awful imo. Better than the first, sure, but not enough to warrant buying it as a replacement. The Figuarts looks kind of incredible, so I'll just wait for that. Also Groot looks like he's been playing in oil. Way too much wash applied to the face
