I can’t wait to get this Storm figure in the mail. She’s my favorite superhero and has been since I was a wee lad. I always get mad when I see so many multiple versions of Wolverine figures which is hypocritical of me because...I would totally be down for literally any version of Storm figure possible.

the original Jim Lee costume was white. That is it, however in the comics the costume has appeared in other colors like black before being changed in to new uniforms. So basically the suit has been done in 2 colors and seen some variations as is the case with comic books generally.

I prefer the more White hair on the black suit version. I think the only reason they added additional paint apps to the white suit version is for color contrast. I think the suit was always Black. To sell it as being made of leather Jim Lee in particular drew it with a lot of reflective detail to make it look shiny. As other artists, like Whilce Portacio, drew Storm as time went on the inkers and colorists who adapted the pencil work began to interpret it differently and it started looking more Silver. The White version is clearly meant ot evoke the animated series.

I think the suit started out as black in X-Men #1 and continued to appear black in X-Men art, but looked more silver in Uncanny X-Men (at least during the first couple years the suit was around), and the silver translated as white in the traditional cel animation of the cartoon series. Also, farts.

Why Hasbro don't give us this same material they used for this 'sleeves cape' for all the characters that actually wears capes? I mean, it looks more natural and makes the figures lighter. Per example the new Thor 80th anniversary is really difficult to balance him, because of its heavy weight in his cape.

As much as Jim Lee storm hits me in the nostalgia place, Id a anime Storm. Yes, the anime was pretty bad, but the Storm character design is still hands down my favorite. That + Moonstone body = take my money.

I am on the fence still with getting her. I am the kind of guy who displays one version of a character, so having both isn’t how I roll (I try to display only one...Vintage wave brown and yellow suit and Love Triangle tiger stripe Wolvie are actually next to each other). I preordered her, though, so we’ll see once I get her in hand. I do like how the gold and black pop more so than the yellow and pearlescent white, which I know would look awesome in my display.

Really, my only gripe with the 90s era Storm (black or white) is that she is so small. Storm is almost 6' tall, Spider-Man should not be bigger than she is.

A rep from Hasbro said a while back that they aren't using the super curvy molds anymore. Not sure how true it is at this point. Hope that isn't the case, but from what we've been getting, it seems possible.

Fun fact the white suit storm from the classic 90s is a separate suit from the black suit that we see here storm has worn this one much earlier in 88 and a short time after the classic 90s with short hair as well as in her solo comic and also in X-men forever when perfect storm betrays the X-men

Looks like painting is the way to go. I've had good results touching up figures with acrylic paint and Mod Podge matte clear coat. I'm going to give that a try now realizing she had no gloves in the cartoon.
