Marvel Rivals Alpha Destroyed Any Overwatch 2 Hype

Marvel Rivals was just revealed as an Overwatch clone with a ton of playable heroes, destructible environments, and what seems to be a compelling gameplay loop. All of this comes at a time when Overwatch 2 is struggling and receiving a lot of negative feedback. While the Marvel Rivals Alpha Sign-up is available below, a lot of people are talking about this interesting turn of events. Overwatch isn't dead as many people would like to believe. Lilith skin didn't cost $40, it came in a bundle with more stuff. Rivals has net ease behind it in a free to play game. You should bet it will have heavy monetization schemes and won't just be for cosmetics. And if it is just cosmetics, you can believe it'll be $40 for just a skin and nothing else. Overwatch isn't going anywhere

Overwatch is basically in franchise stasis, it's not gonna die, but it's also not gonna rise above the playerbase that already plays it because of the broken promises. It's just hard for anyone to be excited about new Overwatch content when all the news is about the lack of the significant content that people wanted. Mobile games are like that because it works. It's become standardized. Overwatch standardized the cosmetics model, again because it works. We have no reason to believe that they won't copy the monetization model from Overwatch, which is proven safe and effective. (I don't even gaf I see this game as more a curiosity than anything else. I'm never gonna play it. Most likely.)

Blizzard killed Overwatch 2 before the game even came out by cancelling the PvE and lying to everyone about it being still there. The polish and gameplay will set the two games apart. Ow 2 can run at 316fps pretty easily. Marvel can do it but its gonna take some time. If the polish aint there then ow players are not gonna jump ship. Good thing its still early we will see in the beta

People didn't jump into Gundam Evolution which was a super-competent hero shooter - despite OW2 issues. If this succeeds, it's because of the IP. Although, the Avengers game didn't do what was expected, typically just copying a sub-genre instead of iterating into something new doesn't work (Fortnite clones, anyone?). Overwatch succeeded as a whole, something new, but people have passed on that now. But of course mobile games would succeed (in regards to strike force). I don't see this game doing too well.

I am maybe the only one, but i have a super hero fatigue. The only super hero game, i´m interested in is Marvel´s Blade but just because, there wasn´t any proper Blade game on the OG XBOX and ps2. Besides that i don´t care, about super hero games anymore. I want new games, and not only sequels and super hero games. I understand that video game developement, cost billions of dollars and they want to make, games many gamers want like sequels to successfull games or super hero games. But at this point i rather support new IP´s / franchises like Avowed, Indiana Jones, Kingdom: The Blood, Banishers Ghosts of New Eden and Replaced instead of the 50th super hero game.
