wait the red arrow on top of enemies makes it so they get insta-killed by kraken impact? weird

Yeah It took forever for me to figure that out, after some testing the arrow doesn't appear if you don't have your ultimate ability. I found it really strange that there was no mention of the symbol anywhere after researching it
