Marvel’s Eternals: Every Character And Power Explained

With the first team movie of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel’s Eternals directed by Chloé Zhao and with an all-star cast including, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gil Birmingham, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie is poised to not only be a visual spectacle but also explore some of the more cosmic and space related characters in the MCU. We’ve already seen one Eternal, Thanos, and how powerful he was even without the Infinity Gauntlet so an entire team may be the strongest collection we’ve seen in the MCU so far. Before Eternals drops this November, let’s take a look at each character’s powers and see what makes them so special. While there’s Eternals all over the cosmos, it looks like Marvel’s first film about them will be focused on those who, supposedly, look after Earth. Anyone curious: they all have a good chunk of the same abilities HOWEVER, they tend to implore them in different ways or have certain things unique to them. Thena being able to create weaponry, etc.

She was able to rearrange matter, so creating weapons is just changing air into steel. She also had cosmic powers, I think I remember that, so there are lots of things she could conceivably do but never did. She was very reserved from what I remember. What bothers me is swapping genders for no reason and, with the exception of Thena (and Phastos to a degree), they don't look like they did in the comics. It's like Mantis without the antennae, a black-skinned Gamora or if instead of armor, Stark used a force field. They did a good job with making all the other heroes look appropriate... Except for Heimdall. In Norse Mythology he was described as having the whitest skin of the gods, so that was pretty far off. Other than that, they stayed pretty close. Why change it for the Eternals?

Kingo is from South Asia in Marvel's Eternals, not the middle east. They are two different regions within Asia with very different cultural backgrounds. Only reason I made this comment is to educate. We finally have a South Asian superhero and people are getting the region wrong.

I am very curious about how MCU sequels featuring the character of Sprite will explain Lia Mchugh getting older. Are they going to de-age her like they did with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeifer? We've seen a number of adult actors being made to look younger, but never (to the best of my knowledge) to make them look like an adolescent. Bart and Lisa Simpson can stay the same age for 30 years because they are animated. Will Sprite become a completely motion capture CGI character like the Hulk? I suppose there are a couple of ways they could avoid the problem altogether. While I very much hope they didn't, they could have killed the character off in the Eternals film. The other way would be to offer an in story explanation for why Sprite starts to age after millenia in the body of a 12-year-old. Perhaps Sprite was dusted in the blip and began ageing after getting blipped back to life.
