This show is Pure Abstract Art and Extremely Underrated. The Visuals, the Heartfelt storyline, the Music, the character development, the use of Metaphors and each and everything is just so remarkable. And it's like nothing I've ever seen. In the my opinion amongst all the shows I've watched. This is THE BEST SHOW ever made. And I've watched a lot of shows, like Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Daredevil, The Boys, etc. It's incredibly original and isn't afraid to be different. It always takes an unexpected and unpredictable turn. That's the beauty of it.

I’m ok with only 3 seasons because they told a complete story arc. If they had tried to do a fourth season it would have been beginning a new story arc and probably would have gotten canceled without a conclusion to that new arc.

I feel like one big reason Legion is underrated is that it's difficult to swallow. For instance, my dad is an author and was a film archivist whos literary experience completely dwarfs my own, like a drop of water compared to a lake. He falls into the same trap a lot of intelligent people do, though, of being overly confident in his opinion, having no patience with things that he concludes way too easily "are a waste of time," and never being able to change his mind when he makes a conclusion like that. In essence, a "fast closer." He quit at the start of season 2 because, in his words, "the show was fucking with me." I said, "but that's exactly what makes Legion good," but he insists that it was fucking with him in a way that wasn't making any sense or adding up to anything in the long run. I think Legion is a difficult show for most people because they don't want to think that much, but a lot of the people who do want to think and be challenged fall into the same trap my dad did, labelling it a hot mess. They just don't have enough patience or ability to question their own opinion to finish.

I totally agree wtih you. The fact that the show challenges the viewers minds for 3 whole season is both the appeal and the turn off. Each to their own take i guess. Looking at tv shows lately I'm just gratefull they finished the show. Many of them even struggle to get past season 1 without getting flatlined by show runners. Even a mind bending show like Westworld didn't survive after season 4...

There was a trippy anime called Madoka where the last movie. made back in 2012, was so controversial that it pissed off a lot of viewers, though I think what really pissed people off was that because of the ending it may never have a finale. Ten years later, it's finally getting one. I'm glad they added a sequel series onto Dexter, too. A lot of people thought the ending was a total cop-out.

Your dad is and author and archivist that doesn't understand the concept of an unreliable narrator? David is an unreliable narrator with the actually ability to change the world he lives in without meaning to. Farouk was actually keeping David's power in check and keeping it from leaking, once Farouk is removed the real world begins to resemble his fractured mind because he is accidentally changing the world. That is what Farouk shows everyone at the end of the second season, what the world should look like. The line where his delusions end and reality begins are non-existant because they are one in the same.

@Alex Stinson No, he definitely understands that concept. His probem is that he spaces out the episodes and puts a lot of other series and movies in-between. 95% of the time, he is well-versed enough with plots that he could normally pick things up perfectly, but not with such an involved show like Legion. I think part of the reason is not giving it as much respect as shows like Deadwood or The Wire. He also missed the scene after the season one credits. He quit on season two episode one.

The entire overarching theme of the show was it was taking the viewer along the same mind F that the Shadow King was taking the characters along, all the while attempting to teach the viewer what the Shadow King was actually doing to the characters.

That plus the cinematography, digital and physical effects, the soundtrack, set designs, and wardrobe. Its the full package and I've watched it twice and will watch it again.

I’m watching Legion now and that’s an incredible experience. I came to see that show on Disney + after having seen the MCU movies and shows only some months ago. What a delightful surprise to me. It’s like a piece of abstract art with incredible visual effects, music, sounds, even dances. The story is always going from a Marvel like mutant with powers to a man suffering from a mental illness. I’m enjoying every moment of what i sea and hear.

while legion doesn't try to even adapt the comics, it gets the spirit of the character perfect. I don't think every comic series needs to be legion but more lessons of it's visual story telling and use of abstract concepts should definitely be used. Moon Knight is the perfect comparison because the series also has a similar base line but each show treats its subject matter differently even only comparing seasons 1. Legion is about understanding the struggled of David as he is someone who's mind betrays him at every turn, he's not saving the world yet he's getting himself in order. Moon Knight season 1 tries to tell a story about Egyptian gods, mental heath disorder, and the end of all life in 8 episodes and just flops because it doesn't know if it doesn't challenge the audience, the gods were real the whole time so the question of Mark/Steven/Jake is already answered and there's no intrigue and moving forward there's not a ton of room to do creative things with if Konshu is real or an alternate personality.

It does attempt, at least Season 3 is more on the nose with the comic arc it's adapting but if I recall correctly Seasons 1 and 3 have actual comic story counterparts, Season 2 is the Black sheep, Daredevil style.

in defense of the show's absurdity bcs I stumble many complaint about it online, I think it's the only way you can work around this character knowing how weird he is in the comics (E.g david's personality and his power levels). I haven't revisit the show since season 3 ended, but visually everything is so creative and it's definitely one of marvel's best shows out there

I agree with pretty much everything you said the main thing I didn't like was the ending but I do understand it i guess what it was saying to me was it wasn't about saving himself and then everyone else it was about saving everyone but that's what I didn't like because I felt like it was really saying there is no real way to save a person like David only getting a restart. Because in the real world the choices are "David the zombie" or "David the villain." I do believe people who are sick can be saved and helped and you don't always have to make them a zombie or leave them behind because there to dangerous to be trusted. But That's the reality of the real world no time travel restarts no saving yourself from the voices in your head and if your sick you are no hero your are the villain. But I guess that's why... "it's always blue."

I basically tell everyone I meet that they need to at least see the pilot. Been using bits and pieces of the duologue as intros and outros for my DJ mixes. Season two is actually Epic because of John Hamm's narration and Jermaine Clements bigger role. IMO

I haven´t forgotten. I never will. Legion ist the ONLY show based on a marvel property I regularly find my self thinking back to. I try to write screenplays in my free time, and this series is one of my top 5 inspirational works in the realm of mystey / science fiction / weird fiction. The inserts / clips are such a unique and cool way to break down ideas that are more or less relevant to the plot, and they even work as short movies in their own right. Also... The soundtrack alone is inspired beyond beliefe.

I concur that it is a 'criminally; underated show. To my mind here's more creativity in each episode than some entire seasons (hell maybe some entire runs) of lesser works. One thing that did annoy me after a while was David's twitchiness which did seem to me to play to an outdated stereotype of schizophrenia, but maybe it was justifiable given the story. But overall I can give it no higher praise as being comparable to Twin Peaks, as you also mentioned.

Legion is awesome. I've been a fan of Bill Sienkiewicz's art style since the Demon Bear Saga in the New Mutants (where, incidentally, we also meet Legion for the first time), and this show actually translates that disjointed, abstract narrative into live action, and I love that about the show.

Also I want to point out that WandaVision, Moon knight and Loki which are great shows, they have copied a lot of things and ideas from Legion. Most of the Superhero stuff is just straight up bad story telling, but this one is a gem. Legion had a true artistic vision, besides from making a lot of money and you can feel that while watching. It wants you to feel all sorts of things. Not only good ones. It´s protaganist reveals himslef to be a damn rapist, and still manages to find him salvation in the end. What a wild ride. It´s perfect.

I just finished rewatching Legion. The first season was amazing. The second and third season were slow and could have been made in half of the episodes and still told the same story. It was very repetative in some episodes. All seasons had some great scenes.

The show was created by Noah Hawley who’s the genius behind Fargo. I can assume by your voice you’re probably too young to notice all the Pink Floyd easter eggs like Sydney Barrett (Syd Barrett founded Pink Floyd but left the band due to insanity). Also the camera work and set design of season 1 are straight up Stanley Kubrick, which is mind blowing. And the animations are very similar to movie “Pink Floyd: The Wall”. I just wanted to add this information.

But the entire series was such an acid trip and I really miss it. Deadpool wolverine movie really reminded me of Legion because of Cassandra Nova. Really good BTW, check it when you can.

Yeah season 2 turned away most fans as all the great visuals and mysteries seemed watered down and like they were trying too hard to be ‘weird’ I hadn’t even realised there was a season 3 until 2023 so I’ve just finished watching the whole 3 seasons. Having not seen season 3 it really comes back again and even though not as good as season 1 it back to being in form again.

2nd season wasn’t the best with a few episodes being terrible like the Sid episode but even considering that it’s easily my favorite show outside of Fargo. I’m glad they used time travel because that was an ability of David and some of his personality’s. It’s the closest thing to using all the drugs I ever took all at once

Season one was indeed a masterpiece. It was interesting, engaging and had crazy visuals. But as time passed I felt like things got a bit out of hand, and some episodes didn't make much sense. Like we had a full episode exploring parallel universes, but after that the concept was completely forgotten. I also didn't like that we didn't get a proper ending showing what happened after they changed the past. They could easily have cut some of the songs that didn't add anything, and given the series a proper ending. A good one would have been the showing different possibilities of what could have happened in the new timeline. Would have tied in with that past multiverse episode greatly and would fit greatly with the series style.

I defo get what you mean, the ending could've been a bit juicier. But i think that parallel worlds episode was less about the parallel world and more to show David and Amy's dynamic and how they're always linked together and its like David thinking about all the possible ways they couldve been. So though the episode did drag out its point, it was more to focus on the loss of his sister who was always with him, no matter what ubiverse they were in.

I'm struggling to get through the first episode. The over-acting is giving the characters an unappealing first impression and the editing is so unnecessarily annoying, like trying to draw attention to itself amateurishly. The aesthetic is really confusing, is it supposed to be some alternative timeline, reality or future? With all the 60's music and imagery it's almost like it's trying to feel like it's taking place in the 60's but it looks a lot more like the 90's and they clearly have tablets and electronic door locks and even some weird futuristic technology too so it just doesn't seem like it's trying to go for anything authentic.

It is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen along with watchmen, American Gods, Preacher, Good Omens and WandaVision. Very disappointing that so many people thought that David was evil. When you see the last scene in the last episode, you should understand that that’s not the case. Farouk twisted the narrative and they all fell for it. How would you feel if everyone you knew betrayed you? Perhaps a little bit like ending the world. 🪄⚛️
