Shuma-Gorath is basically the "cool character that you never see in comics because if you see him, your universe is screwed and you need to run some event team of heavy hitters to even have a chance of suspending reader disbelief enough to banish him again". Galactus was this for a while, then he kind of got the Eldar Avatar treatment of being made a chew toy for every new threat that the writers want to hype up, which then also makes his character more confusing. I was a fan of the whole "Inside his armor there's really just energy and how you see him is reflected by your own personality" idea, but now he's somehow got flesh that zombies can eat? I mean, just the fact that they managed to take him down is kind of hard to swallow, but at least have them suck the energy out of him or something instead of devouring actual flesh, he's not supposed to have any. Then again I guess their belief made it so, maybe? Who knows.

Them turning Shuma-Gorath into a jobber in this story is probably more in relation to the "reshuffling of the godly" hierarchy marvels trying to do. Galactus being given flesh was probably just one of those things so that the story could happen. We've seen Galactus with some pretty gnarly wounds in 616 and he's never had "flesh" just an empty-ish husk where the holes or cracks in the armor should be.

All of the attacks that the Children of the Vault repelled and saved the people from, I thought that it was that the Children of The Vault orcastrated events to allow such attacks just so that they could show themselves as the heroes to humanity, like they opened up portals to dimensions and universes letting through the Marvel Zombies and Shuma-Gorath and all of them. So it was the Children manipulating everything the whole time. That is what I thought was happening.

Robert Jordan has a line in one of his early WoT books, I think it was the leader of the White Cloaks, "Conquer a people by secretly releasing a rabid lion in the streets and then killing that lion yourself". MCU did the same with Spiderman and Mysterio - This is no different. Yeah, it's on a larger, more complex scale but the concept is no different

Honestly, I don't see any reason the children of the vault even need earth. They could terraform any planet they want peacefully with ease without needing to deal with humanity or mutants. I hope they have a satisfying conclusion to this story. We saw how the writers wrote themselves into a wall with the beyond story line, and ended up having a cop out ending because of the antagonists power level. I like this story, and I don't want it to suffer the same fate. My guess, is that they use the hubris of the children against them. The mutants might take this virus that can implant memories into people's heads, and reverse engineer it to make the children of the vault either fall into a permanent sleep, or make them decide to stay in the vault to evolve themselves as much as they can.

Bishop singing Take Me Out to the ballgame as he regulates and displaces energy emissions..... is my favorite feat displayed by an X-Men in a few weeks 🔥 LOVING how the events happening with the X-Men is forcing them... to get inventive and resourceful as a means of survival Kitty reinventing how she uses her phasing to compliment her assassin training, Xavier showing new ways to use his telepathy and hidden TK abilities, Bishop & Storm, even Hope Exodus and the 250,000 exiled mutants... ALL finding and exploring more ways to use and exceed their ability cap for a LONG while "controlling your gifts" was the name of the mutant game and now it just seems everyone's mastered their abilities and I'm LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT

I hope you are right because that makes this story make a little more sense...except the editor cites that these a the zombies from the zombie earth, if these are all fake outs the should have just said zombies from an alternate earth. But i really hope you are right, it would make waaay more sense than a herald of Galactus becoming a third world dictator.

*ODE TO C.E.:* Comics Explained got me through some ROUGH TIMES, and are still the highlight of my days. Rob's videos pop up, I hit "like" before watching, hit full-screen-view, and then savor every second. I miss the days when I had videos still unseen. Now I wait, one by one, in anticipation ⚠️ Rob's basically the Encyclopedia Britannica of comics. I think I'd prefer it if they were illusions designed to make them look good. It's still a trope, but it's at least a better one and it doesn't cheapen those characters. I hope that... when they finish this story... the Children of the Vault are sent to the real Zombie Earth and are torn to shreds. That would be a hilarious way to end things. The X-gene was artificially imbued by celestials. Canon has been getting severely messed up whenever I check, so this has possibly been retconned heavily, but literally any other superhuman group out there has a better claim to being the next evolution of mankind.

@@jorgedemis7548 Sinister has been heavily implied to have been controlling mutant breeding for the last few centuries and the gene has not been nearly so random for the last 2 decades of comics. Eg Beak’s descendants seem to be headed towards badass eagle men as an “evolutionary” goal. Wolverine’s kids all have claws and healing factor. The children of the vault also seem to have headed or be headed towards the same place as the future humans in Moira’s timelines, so they’re clearly going along the “winning” evolutionary path. Bit of a shame that they don’t see the irony of their own violence in order to realize the smart thing is just outright boosting humans without the high mortality rate until they catch-up to them.

I like the children of the vaults idea to basically share abilities amongst everyone. That would actually be a bad ass idea for earth in general. Where everyone is able to share their abilities amongst the entire population through technological means or maybe even telepathic. Basically turning everyone on the planet into a god. They get Franklin Richards powers. They get Jean grey and Xavier’s powers. They get the sentry’s powers minus the void. Everyone’s clothing is based on stark and wakandan nanotech and able to do cool things for them. Like a Swiss Army knife. No one needs transportation because they can teleport or fly.

In the real world, any of those creatures can be easily defeated, and half of the marvel, superheroes would likely be immune to suffering the effects of it. They kinda inadvertently squandered any potential they had over the years trying to rewrite a "franchise" with marvel zombies. Secret wars was supposed to be a sort of tongue in cheek swan song for the whole Marvel zombies thing since each respective "franchise" gets squeezed to death and just ends like shit. Secret wars was a good closing point for the concept of marvel zombies. But like with all things in the comics industry, death is just another advertising point

Honestly I don't really see Marvel Zombies as a big deal _depending_ on who the zombie is. Bruh one reality warper and they're done. He's not even a reality warper but basically gets the job done with matter manipulation so pretty much the same...now...throw in Hyperion Marvel Zombie and then we can talk 😆Now that...that right there is the Cable I know.
