Theory: Marvel's Santa is an omniversal singularity with aspects similar to DC's Uncle Sam and the Endless combined, connected to and a manifestation of the omniversal collective consciousness. Being that he is a being of belief and faith, inconsistency is part of his nature and being that he's omniversal, he exists in our world as well therefore making it impossible for writers to give a consistent definitive take on him.

Theory: you and the handbook are both right. The multiversal being and the skrulldeer Santa are two separate people. According to the infinite universe Theory there are infinite VERSIONS of you so therefore there are millions of non-canon uni-versal Santas. OR since there IS a chronological timeline of the santa(s) we can also possibly assume he is not one consistent being but a multiversal force that occasionally spawns their avatar in a different universe from time to time although originating in 616. Making him a multi-universal HOPPER and CONSTANT.

A lot of wiki information comes from well meaning fans that are generally working off of memory which is understandably flawed. Uuh my only conclusion for lore wise explanitions. "DC's Gods explained" But Santa is even more insane like that. He is all of them and is not. And maybe... just MAYBE... the answer is much simpler for the multiversal explanition and why one time he has to be killed and one time he isn't... "He was wished to be like that for the comic" Whaaaattt?! Yea... the true saint nick would probaly give every hero/anti-hero their spotlight surrounding Santa. I mean come on... Deadpool getting paid by kids to kill Santa? You know for SURE That's a wish Deadpool wants himself. Crime solving Santa? She-hulk would love that a detective can detect who's nice or naughty to catch a murderer. Hitler catching Santa to drop Morale? Again... It pulled him out and gave that universe's Cpt America to catch hitler. And so on.... Remember that as long as you are nice.. you can get your "wish" granted by Santa. And if it involves something like giving the infinity gauntlet to Santa cause he's real and a good person. Why not? A worthy wielder of infinity energy. Santa Doom? Again.. who's wish could this be? If we just see Santa being a being that becomes something due to christmas wishes... Then suddenly you fill in that dumb lore gap XD Otherwise.. yea Drake is right. Just writers given free reign!

Think of it this way. Remember those two videos you did about Darkseid? Basically, all the same rules are in play here. Except... santa's even more powerful! Santa isn't just a multiversal singularity, he spans the entire omniverse. He's the one character in comics that Darkseid couldn't kill. Of course, what all of this means for the larger picture, is that at some point we're going to see a darkest universe santa, and then we're all in trouble.

You know since Santa draws power from people's belief of him, it could also mold him to fit the scenarios when the need arises. If it's believed that he could beat the Hulk, he would gain the ability to do so. If people believed that he could turn all of the people on Earth nice for a day, he would gain that power. If people believed he was a heavy metal rocker, then he would rock. It's Marvel. They have so many writers and artist, each with their own beliefs and views. So letting them express it with a character that pretty much is fluidic and can be interpreted in as many ways as there are atoms in a given universe is actually pretty brilliant.

I once saw a Marvel animated movie which basically said that Santa was basically the son of a frost giant from Thor's home world of Asgard. He even has his own private army of light elves called the Winter Guard. But again, this is a part of the animated Marvel universe, so I wouldn't take that too seriously either.

In short: Santa is a Multiversal Conceptual Entity, and how integrated each iteration of him is, depends on which other iteration you're interacting with. His reality isn't exactly cohesive, and he just blimps across the realities. Perhaps he originated in one reality and spread out, or maybe he exists because so many realities have myths of him. Who knows, all that matter is... Santa Is. ;p
