The problem that I have with game reviewers is that they think 20 or 30 hours is not long for me that’s a lot of stuff to do in a game. I’m a Patient slow gamer, who enjoys the story and will probably do the side activities more than I will do the main story right off the bat, they have to rush and beat everything in two weeks before the game comes out because they need to upload a review

Plus I’m like you, not only do I like taking my time, I’ll probably just swing around the city for fun and do side missions, and I also have work so I could easily turn the game from 30 hours to 60-70 hours.

Strongly agree. If I can beat it in 20-30 hours, and then platinum it in 30-40 it just makes it that much better because I won’t feel so bogged down by bloat and will actually be willing to play another run on Ultimate difficulty, or play the NG+ once that drops. I can’t stand a game that’s 100+ hours to beat and then asks you to do it all over again to play at the hardest difficulty or badass NG+ run. And having that second run really is a big deal for me personally. This is a perfect sweet spot 👍🏻

Limited playtime just means it takes you longer to beat games which shouldn't be a problem if you play games you enjoy.... which should be the case since you have limited playtime and you don't review games for a living. I just can't understand this idea that games should be shorter because some people don't have as much free time. Play as much as your free time allows you to, it's that simple. As a matter of fact, it even helps you save money because by the time you're done, one or several other games you wanted to play have dropped in price. Speaking from experience. Reviews from gaming outlets like IGN, gamespot, gameranx, etc typically have a small team of journalists who split the workloads to review multiple games at once. One person will play and write the review, then the speaker will just record reading the script which often leads to them attempting to critique or explain a product they simply have not played just sounds soulless & bizarre. I recommend mixing it up and watch reviews from content creators to get a better overall assessment.

It seems this game improved on many aspects of the first game like bosses, qtes, enemy variety, combat and gadgets, web slinging and traversal, graphics and animations but failed to improve on the open world design. The repetitive structure of the side quests and infinite grinding is still in this game like the first one. That was my only grip with the first game as well. Still not every game can reinvent the wheel on the open world design. There are only a couple of games who managed to do this like Elden Ring, Zelda and Red Dead Redemption 2. These games established a new way to approach open world design without the need of a bloated repetitive structure just to add more content in the game, like 95% of open world games. Despite all that I strongly believe this is worthy of a game of the year nomination bare minimum. It's a well polished and improved sequel. Top 4 games of 2023 easily along with Zelda, Baldur's Gate 3 and RE4 Remake

I think one of the problem with Sony 1st party games right now are the story. It seems that they are rushing it too much. Like for example how God of War Ragnarok ended. The same with Horizon Forbidden West which is obviously rushed and was not elaborated even after having the DLC. Anyway still good to see that Spiderman 2 is a polish game

Totally agree, the new games try to be super cinematic but even GOW3 was more fun than Ragnarok where you walk more, and it just looks great. The previous Spider-Man was great, not as good as the best Arkham games, but here the division between two characters that are also too similar just divides attention and distills the story. If it weren’t for Venom, it t wouldn’t be as cool. The first game had better story and better villains overall.

@@tariqroberson8496 totally right. Good point with the hammer. In a way, GOW3 is still my favourite:) In recent years the only company the disappointed me the least was Nintendo. I feel it’s so rare for studios to finish a game, test it and keep polishing it- like Tears of The Kingdom-they had been polishing it for a year after they completed it. Today everything must be rushed out and as long as it has atleast 40+hours and amazing graphics, nobody will say a word.

After completing Spider Man 2 and hitting 100% I will say, it was an enjoyable game, however I feel like it was lacking something. The first one was a breath of fresh air because of the years of decent spider men games lead to the PS4 one being epic. 2 just felt okay to me. I can see why it wasn't necessarily a GOTY contender. Maybe the extra content they announced may take it there. here's hoping.

The only issue I have with what I've seen of the game is it's a game in 2023 still using quick-time events. That "(O) *dodge* ..........(X) *shoot web* .......(∆) *Punch* ........ *Mash R1+ R2* in the middle of cutscenes that wowed us in 2005. The same format we saw in Indigo Prophecy and God of War for PS2. Why are developers still doing this in 2023?

Blame enhanced lighting and RT in games. We’re not ready for it yet. Also not ready for RT because the size of the mapping is so big in this game you get a basic display of ray traced reflections what I mean is I would rather have good shaders which we’ve seen in the past rather than for example seeing a real time reflected spider man looking back at me on a window full of aliasing and a tree in the back ground with the none rendered version staring back at me. Those imperfections implemented in this version of RT is more distracting than the RT technology itself! Spider-Man 1 & miles morales had this but no way near as bad as spider man 2 does. When lighting and RT is implemented a lot of strain is put on the hardware. Unfortunately we start to see things such as aliasing and poor textures, circular rough shapes such as poor polygon smoothening and low resolution on street signs such as decals and emergency vehicles. Still using a Low res sky box as colour banding is still present day and night around the soles trials objects where lighting gets stretched. In most cases this is where a film grain effect can soften the blow to the effect of colour distortion and banding but in this game it has little to no effect same as its previous titles… ..Shimmering is way worse In Spider-Man 2 even though they said it would be less noticeable than previous titles and artifacts in draw distances such as this are extremely unpleasant, and a jarring eye sore. It’s the price you pay for lighting. Plague Tale Requim has similar issues.. makes me concerned for unreal engine 5 when it’s all about lighting. All the hard work to get good textures and anti aliasing and high resolution assets seem to be getting downgraded and swapped out for lighting. Each to their own but I personally can’t call that a technical achievement other than the good frame rates we can now achieve.

I dont want to be that guy but i guniully am left disappointed I fangirled so over this game but i guss didnt live up to my expectations like repetitive storylines and the combat is the same don't get me wrong gow had the same combat for five games but at least made then distinct enough but this didn't feel distinct the story is perfect honestly couldn't ask for anything else but the side activities didn't feel good the story feels kinda rushed and contricding but a spider man fan would love this game and i wont bitch on too much about it and the symbiote combat made me feel like a kid playing web of shadows on my xbox 360 oh god😂 So a 6 or 7/10.

Giving games a 10/10 score mainly for their graphics and physics is a huge mistake. 5 years from now this game will be outdated. The same happened to the previous Spiderman. Now the graphics look old. And it will happen to this spiderman as well eventually.
