I don't think anyone really appreciates how physically strong Spider-Man actually is thanks to his powers. He straight up kicked one of Doc Ock's prosthetics off, caught a helicopter, plowed a subway train through the road, which shouldn't even be possible, and can somehow incapacitate the living tank known as Rhino, who literally wears indestructible armour on 90% of his body.

Spiderman does an incredible job at making you feel like a superhero while not being BS with the difficulty. Even on Ultimate mode, you can still flat out embarrass your opponents, it's just that you have to be aware that slipping up means they get an immediate advantage over you if you can't recover.
